16 GB MicroSD for Neo V

I'm planning on buying a microSD card for my neo V. Main use is playing games and using it to watch HD videos on my TV. I'm confused. Do different manufacturers' card run at different speeds?
Transcend's class 10 or Sandisk's class 6 ? Budget is Rs 1400 (max).

Brand doesn't matter much, IMO, since they are very compeititive. What matters is the class. Don't buy a card, with a class less then the current one. What is the class of card you currently have?

The one that came free with the phone. Class 2 .

Are you sure the card is class 2? I think that's not possible. The camera of Neo V is 8 MP and can record the video in 720p quality. But, IMO, a card of class 2 just cannot handle the speed requirement of writing 720p quality video file onto it.
If you are not able to find out the class of your card, then you can use the app called SD Tools , to find out the writing speed and hence the class of the card.

Okay i got write speed 5.5 MBps and read speed 11.4

Maybe class 4.

Edit : Neo v has 5mp cam btw ;-)

SE phones come with a Class 2 card but they run at Class 4 speeds (4mb/s)
plenty for 720p videos.

You need higher for 1080p videos in dual core phones.

As for OPs query.

Just get any Sandisk or Transcend 16GB card, min Class 4. Higher classes don't matter unless you transfer files a lot from your PC.

I have a Class 10 Verbatim microSD card. Not much difference since read speeds for all cards are the same and record vary a lot.

FYI, Neo V (read as Neo Five) has a 5MP camera. The original Neo only had a 8MP camera.

Err, the problem lies there only. How am i supposed to copy 4 gb movies or exceptionally large game files of some games to the card? I remember trying to copy a 500Mb folder; had to leave it overnight.

^ Get a class 10 card then. No brainer. The Transcend ones are pretty reliable. I was a little biased before but now found them to be as reliable as Sandisk.

There are only two possibilities. You were using a USB 1.0 port. Or, that there were many smaller files, rather than a few big size files.

Anyway, Class 10 card would be expensive and over your budget IMO. But you can try a class 6 card.

Btw @Sarath: If even class 4 card is plenty to save a 720p video, then don't you think, Class 10 is an overkill!

Hmm yea okay i think i'll get the transcend one. Sandisk's Class 6 is only rs 100 cheaper than transcends class 10. I had some performance related doubts and thats why i posted here.

There were many small files in there. Yeah i guess that was the problem. Will it still be like that on a class 10 card?

And coming to budget, transcend's class 10 is for 1300 on letsbuy. Sandisks class 6 was also priced somewhere near 1300.

I got a class 10 Verbatim card for 1400 bucks off ebay. It much cheaper now.

Check the warranty on it. The Verbatim warranty is only 2 years or one. I believe Sandisk and Transcend have more than that.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned, take it only if you transfer files from PC a lot. The only time a Class 10 card comes handy.

is a class10 micro-sd card or there is something spl. about the adaptor that takes its speed comparable to class 10?

^^ thats an SD card. you are asking about a microSD card. and no its not an adapter. check the bottom part carefully. had it been microSD card with adapter it'll have a small slit.

also adapter won't help. its like plugging in a USB2.0 pendrive & USB3.0 port and hoping to get 100MBps speed. you won't.

I received this card today. Its not actually the full size SDHC card as listed but its a microsSD+Adapter package. Though the combination does the same job as full length SDHC card but KOOVS should list it as it is. This is my first comment in koovs, so I am not sure whether they have dareness like flipkart to accept/publish the negative comment.

yes, it should be but if it turns out to be SDHC card (comment can be old), you can't use it in most mobile.

yeah right.. i dont remember any mobile having SDHC card capabiility
