1. Budget?
5k
2. Display type and size?
about 4.5"
3. Dual sim?
Yes
4. Preferred choice of brand?
Any thing good
5. What camera option you want (flash, front facing camera)?
anything will work
6. Preferred operating system? (Android, iOS, Windows Phone, etc).
Android, windows if it has support of day to day apps like WhatsApp, and sorta app used for remote CCTV monitoring.
7. Preferred connectivity options (3G, 4G ready).
Anything
8. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, internet, gaming etc)?
Day to day use. Whatsapp, calling and mail, occasional internet surfing and maybe, just may be a decent camera.
9. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
Lumia 630, but it has low ram and im not sure about the app support.
10. Any other info that you want to share
My dad uses a lot of whataspp and mails so sort of lag free will be better. Basic day to day use with cctv monitoring application mandatory.

You are fine with Xiaomi & not Micromax, seriously ????

Canvas Spark is a good phone, hate it if you want

Redmi 2 does have better SoC, better screen resolution and should get dev support once the sources are released by Xiaomi.

Yeah I agree, but for people having a budget of 5k, increasing budget by 20% might not be easy .... Just saying

(When I bought my first smartphone, galaxy Y, I couldn't increase my budget by 2k to get HTC Explorer)

When will the device sources be released my xiaomi? I can't find any official source for no voids on warranty after rooting.

It applies to all Xiaomi devices. Moreover, if you want to flash CM11/12 ultimately, I say get Yureka or wait for Yuphoria (hopefully would be priced 6-7k)

I cant wait. Dad needs it as soon as possible. Miui won't be a trouble either, till it works.

Any issues with Vive UI?

I dont like it, and it has a lot of bloatware.
nikhilsharma007nikx

Nowadays MIUI n VIBE UI have the most bloatware, even more than Samsung (earlier samsung was the champion)

Good choice anyways
Will see when I'll get hands on. I have used stock Redmi 1S. It hardly has bloatware, not so sure about MiUI 6

I have ordered it but I didn't receive it. Anyways. My dad hates Nokia lumia. Idk why. But whatever. I can give him my moto e and take his redmi if he doesn't likes it.

congrats & I hope your mom will like it.
Display is better to redmi 1s.

Haha, yeah my mom liked it. It's actually for my dad though. I can't say much for display right now. The display is behind the default screen protector till I get a new one and default one is matte. So it has minor pixelation. RAM is around 300mb. Sometimes reaches 250 but mostly 300 MB. Decent enough. I'll post a review maybe after exams.

ooh..
Remove the default screen protector no harm as such. Ram management is poor in MIUI, faced similar issue with my Redmi 1s.

No harm in removing the screen card. Yeah but its my dad. He's very particular and conservative about his things. I know about ram management, have used redmi 1s but it has improved a little bit I. V6, will also update it when my dad comes home as it was showing a big update in settings, waiting to fix all unaware bugs. :D

this is the best thing for a miui rom, the constant bug fix updates.
