I have an AMD 3000+ processor and installed the cool & quite software, it says it would bring the freq down to aprox 800MHz when not doing anything, but the software just brings down the clookspeed by 200MHz i.e. from 2000MHz to 1800MHz. What should I do to bring it down to save power. It does not go below that even when not doing anything.

processor doesnt consume much power though.... but i know its not the answer u want.... well there is underclocking... but that might harm the procy....

& u r not doing in the desktop doesnt mean that system isnot doing anything.... there is lot of process is running the background....

try to install winXP SP2.... its perforformce better with AMDs....

as i said earlyer....

I said:

btw how do u cheak ur speed..... try cpuz....

& also see from BIOS..... what is ur CPU speed when idle at BIOS...
