A: Windows 7, Win XP

6. How much hard drive space is needed?
A: I already have a HDD

A: 1024x768(yes my old CRT)

8. How would you rate your hardware knowledge from the count of 1-10? (1 being the lowest, 5 being you are somewhat in sync with the current performers and 10 being the highest)
A: 8

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
A: Yes

A: Within a month

A: 3 Years atleast

Phenom II X4 945 or 955
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H or Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-US2H
G.Skill Ripjaws F3-10666CL9S-4GBRL
FSP SAGA II 500W

Fsp Saga isnt available here
gonna look in different shops later.
Gigabyte mobos: when I said the name they were confused. Then I asked bout Asus M4A78LT-MLE they said it costs 3200. How is this mobo?

how much more advantageous is to use a i5 instead of mentioned amd components?

Order the things from SMC international .
My suggestion is similar to desiibond's

Phenom II X4 955 @ 5.5k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @ 4k
Corsair 2*2GB DDR3 1333MHz @ 2k
FSP SAGA II 350W @ 1.4k

my suggestion is

Athlon II X4 635 @ 4K
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @ 4k
Corsair 1333 MHz DDR3 4 GB single stick @ 2.1K
FSP SAGA II 500W @ 2K (in smc)

Total is around 12.1K. Playing game in a 1024X786...Athlon II X4 635 is more than capable.

I will most probably go with the suggestion of Clis mostly because the Athlon x4 635 costs more like 5 k here and Asus M4A78LT-MLE is Rs.3.2 k

How is this- Asus M4A78LT-MLE?
I will most probably go for a Gigabyte board

and Phenom II X4 costs around 1k more.

Phenom II X4 955: 3.2 GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 6MB L3 cache, socket AM3, 125W, 6k
Athlon II X4 640: 3GHz, 2MB L2 cache, no L3 cache, socket AM3, 95W, 5k

That extra L3 cache helps a lot and also 955 is a black edition which comes with unlocked multiplier..

Note- Gonna check the SMC site now and post back

AMD Phenomâ„¢ II X4 840-HDX840WFGMBOX

Or this a mobo-

Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H

And here is the PSU-

FSP Saga II 500W Power Supply

Tried PRIME ABGB as welll, but prices are lot higher.

9500GT will work fine on your CRT, I am also currently using somewhat similar config that you are planning to buy.

I think Phenom II X4 840 is rebranded Athlon II X4 640

Its not rebranded 640, it is another Athlon II X4 processor with 200 MHz speed bump over Athlon II 640. The phenom name is just for marketing gimmick.

* But why did you go for CIRCLE. Wasn't any branded PSU available ?
* HDD Price is quite high, you could have gone for WDC Blue 500GB instead.
* Wasn't Zeb. Bijli available or this cabby is cooler than Bijli..??

He is from Guwahati (capital city of Assam)

And I am also surprised  to see how he is not able to fetch some good brands there. I have been to that city since my cousin uncle stays there. I must say the city is not very forward in comparison to others but atleast some good brands components are available there, as per my uncle.

Well, there was almost no shop with FSP. When I asked bout Corsair, they deflected me to other brands whom I have never heard about and don't remember names to post.
They had a Cooler Master PSU of 650w costing around 4.5k. I didnt have budget to buy that + I dont need that much power

saswat23 said:

This was the cheapest 500 GB HDD I could find. A shop quoted Rs.1900 for a 320 GB HDD. I didnt buy that. Was really confused seeing the high prices of the HDD

Well, when I asked for Cabinet 1 shop showed me a VIP case which they termed was gaming. THey wanted to sell it to me as the side panel was broken(the panel was transparent and had the case had lots of room for fans)

When I asked for CM 310 they said it was "AN enthusiast/High end" produce and they didnt even tell me prices.

Well, there is a shop which has all kind of Intel proccy's and Mobos. But I wanted AMD which is a bit difficult to find.
AMD can be brought by any shop but thing was that they would quote very high prices.
Intel is properly and easily availaboe at most big shops.
