1. Budget?
9-12k ( Initial budget was 9k since user doesn't want powerful phone, but I need to buy a from a brand like Samsung/Sony/LG )

2. Display type and size?
<4.5" if possible. Definitely not >5"

3. Form Factor? bar, slider, flip?
Bar only

4. Preferred choice of brand?
Reluctant about buying XOLO and Micromax, need a phone which will last 2-3 years, I might be making an uninformed assumption but I've observed these brand phones need After sales support quite often.

5. Preferred input method (QWERTY, touchscreen, numpad, touch-n-type).
Touch

6. What camera option you want? Please specify need for flash, autofocus, front facing camera.
Good camera is required. I have an LG Optimus L9, great phone, but terrible camera. The user in question here is less concerned about performance ( Apps and gaming ) and more interested in the camera quality.

7. Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).
Android only. Otherwise would have bought the Lumia 520 long ago.

8. Preferred connectivity options (3G, Wifi etc)Please specify clearly.
3G WiFi

9. Preferred applications (Flash, Swype, GPS, etc)?
The usual that comes with Android.

10. Primary use of handset (multimedia, camera, mails, internet, gaming etc)?
Camera and Internet, extensively. Gaming, not so much.

11. Any specific mobile phones in consideration?
Xperia M ( It's 13k but i can stretch that far. Unfortunately, I've not seen anyone recommending that phone, it's all

Xolo A500S ( Cheap phone, decent looking, get the job done, save a lotof money )

Xolo Q700 ( Most recommended in 10k bracket )

Xolo 1000 ( Go all out on the best features available in the budget )

12. Any other info that you want to share

It's for my sister, looks preferred over performance, but it should be fast enough to have a smooth UI.
Again, camera is a very important criteria ( thanks to Facebook i guess :| )
And I'm sorry about not being eager to buy Xolo/Micromax, I have never bought from them, RMAing a phone is the last thing I'd want to do. If anyone can vouch that they have been using their phone for 2 years at a stretch, then maybe I can consider.

Xperia M is great for that budget but

For even better looks and better camera, Lumia 720 is a good choice but price is 16k

Go for Huawei ascend P1. One of my friend has it and it just blows every other android cameras under 15k.

and, I guess the folks recommending Xperia M must have ignored the OP and only read the title . Its camera (and even Xperia L's) is not better than LG optimus L9.

Xolo q1000. You wrote that you're reluctant to buy Xolo/MMX & still you have 3 Xolo's out of 4 phones in your consideration :hahaha:.
If you want to go for Premium brand phones, then please go... but you will be dissatisfied with the limited hardware that you get from these so called "premium" companies.

How reliable is Xolo? Susceptible to giving problems?

I'm sorry for being blunt but I'm that kind of person who once vowed to buy Nokia throughout life.

How reliable is Samsung? It takes 10 mins to make a call after I hit the Dial button. Hardware is nothing & price is so high.... 10000 is considered "entry" level by these companies :-D. Money has become so cheap to them... n then you have Nokia 515 :-D.

Is there anybody who has been using Xolo / Micromax / Huawei for 12+ months without RMAing?

I have been using Huawei U8800 Pro since a long time. It has survived my extreme rough usage, meantime I have rooted and flashed plenty of custom roms on it. I was running Cyanogenmod 10.2 ( MMX, xolo etc will never get Cyanogenmod being mediatek devices) on it weeks ago. Heck, Huawei even has its phones powered by its own K3V2 processors (like Exynos from Samsung).

I have been searching custom ROMs for my "Samsung" galaxy ace duos S6802 since long but it has been futile as all ROMs have had bugs

Dual SIM versions of Samsung phones usually have bad custom ROM support. Example: My Galaxy Y had better support than Y duos, Ace duos, etc

Is there anybody who has been using Xolo / Micromax / Huawei for 12+ months without RMAing?

My uncle's MMX Canvas 2 is working fine till now. Bought in Jan' 13, first week
I would prefer Huawei phones over MMX & XOLO. Moreover Ascend P1 is just great for the price with its great camera & AMOLED display(yeah!! that's right)

Don't buy Huawei dude, you'll regret it. They aren't good at anything but being cheap. Also, a lotta overheating and battery issues with that model.
Get the Xperia M.

yes, Q700 is best VFM under 10k . But Q1000 is better at 12k than Q800-X edition and Q700i.
