best camera android phones x10> nexus one > moto droid..
x10 is outta question to buy ( coz of old android and lot of problems),
nexus one (availability is a problem,)

then Moto droid is the phone..

and samsung galaxy s for all round android experience ( pathetic low light snaps , lacks flash)

XT has a very strange looking form factor. Go for the regular Motorola Milestone. Just rooted mine and upgraded to Froyo. It rocks

@gdatuk good to see you on TDF again :)

@op, if camera is your highest priority, i think X10 would be the default choice. Now that it has Eclair, it should be a decent buy. But do remember that other phones are moving towards Froyo and some will even get Gingerbread, which is going to have better support for phones with h/w acceleration.

If camera is the Primary need better get a N8 (Symbian) -alternative includes XT720.

^^ with the OP's budget, it doesn't makes sense to buy a cheapo phone with resistive screen.

Milestone xt720-23500rsp
htc desire-26500
samsung galaxys-27000.
If you are not willing to spend more than choose milestone xt720. If you can spend 2k more than surely get desire for very functional htc sense ui and htc freindstream. Galaxy s for its superb s amoled display and the powervr sgx540 gpu. Imo get desire very good user interface, build quality and design compared to the crappy touchwiz and cheap plasticky design of galaxy s
