The battery is inflated & drains out quickly, mobile needs charging every 1-3 hrs or so.

If it is more than 1.5 years old then time to get a new battery,should cost ~800 when bought from asus authorized service centre.
Thanks, what about the battery offered at mobile shops in Mumbai, is it safe to buy from them? asking as have heard service centre are expensive & local shops maybe cheap.

No point saving 200 something by getting an inferior product.It is not like laptop battery where original might cost 3-4k while compatible one costs ~1800.
At Asus service centers, it's at Rs 1411 with 3 months warranty.
Here, at a local shop, I'm getting at Rs 900 with 6 months warranty, this is good?
Ignoring other local shops where I'm getting it at Rs 400-600 without warranty

Strange,my friend got zenfone 2 laser battery for ~800 from asus service centre in Delhi two years back. If that is the case then go with Rs.900 one but make sure you are really getting 6 months warranty on it.

Install Accubattery and see how much health (wear) it reports. Too much battery usage could be for various reasons.
It will be much better to get battery installed from an Asus service center. A few years ago, I had got a battery replaced on one of my Samsung phones from a local shop selling a Chinese battery, and it cost less than half the amount Samsung charged, but it lasted only a week.
