hi. ..
im thinking of this :
ASUS M2NPV-VM
2*512 ram 533
athlon 64 3000+ OR athlon X2 3600+ (both am2)
now the processor is worrying me
how much is the difference between these two??
is there huge performance difference??
if i put a gud gfx card later, will the proccy matter??
ive read somwhere that if u put a gud gfx card, a athlon64 3000+ works good enough ...
nd athlon 64 is almost half the price of X2
r the prices of X2 coming down ???
then i can change it to a better X2 later
so... what should i do??
better get a core2duo. Its lot better than X2 or 3000+.
x2 is obviously better than 3000+. X2 prices don't seem to be coming down now. Their prices have already been slashed.
ofcourse the X2 3600+ will be better , even than an insanely oc'ed 3000+ ..
If u hav the budget den go for C2D,it'll be a far better dan X2.
Athlon 64 X2 3600+> Athlon 64 3000+
X2 is definitely better than 3000+.. and btw.. C2D are only compared Amd Fx versions.. so ts a diff story altogether
X2.............all the way
X2 is better its DUAL CORE BUDDY
But it would be better if u get a graphics card as it will provide better gameplay with 300+ than a 3600+X2 without graphics card
X2 3600+ with 6100 IGP is the lowest he'd get anyway ..
And if he get's X2 with 7600 GS with 256/512MB GPU RAM, it will be even better for playing games. Isn't it.
@Omsck Go and get X2. Dual core is future proof and there is amazing difference in performance between 3000+ and X2 even when 3000+ is overclocked to the extremes. btw, X2 is more overclocker friendly.
@Omsck
one thing u should remember. Future games like UT07 nd Crysis nd all upcoming games are optimised to run on dual/quad cores. A single core cpu would be a bottleneck even if u have a good gcard. Those games like crysis are more CPU intense, nd in the recc. req for such games u can see "Dual core preffered" nd even an X2 3600+ would do the job.
I would suggest get X2 3600+/X2 3800+/C2D E6300 along with a 6100/6150/X 3000 IGP, and later upgrade to a mid end DX10 card (GF8 series like 8600 or 8400).
HEY BUDDY X2 is really good GO FOR IT
U r querry is solved,i believe but check out the latest & greatest man!!!
Core2Duo is the hottest thing & u can have it with spending almost little more than AMD & it will give u value for ur money & its performance is way better than AMD....so far.U should run with the technology!!!
thanx a lot evryone, ill go for the x2 then ...can someone plz tell me the current prices for : x2 3600+ , asus m2npv-vm, 160 gb sata hdd,dvd writer, 2*512 ram 533....which brand of ram shud i use ? does it matter? nd plz give prices at mumbai...
X2 3600+ 6k
Asus M2NPV-MX 4.7k
160GB HDD 2.9k
Liteon DVD writer 1.9k
1 GB RAM 4.5k (Buy 1x1 GB RAM not 2x512 MB)
can u please tell that why not 2 *512 and 1*1 Gb is that better or just coz its less of money
It costs less and you leave a slot free for future upgrades.
hmmm but i think that it will work a little slower.. thats mt thinking and the person acan use double bandwidth by installing it on dual channel.. means double the bandwidth and two sticks are 4.7 k 512*2 so why not to...
Marginally slower. You won't even notice the difference in real world applications.
But when you buy 1 GB more RAM later you will have the advantage of running in dual channel and will also have 2 slots free. If you buy 2x512 now then you need to buy 2 sticks of RAM for any further upgrade. (Because you can't run 3 sticks at once, only 1/2/4)
Hi Omsck ,
1 st things 1st -
1 X2 3600+ is at astable price point n definitely better then Athlon 64 3000+.
2 Though there is always the possibility ( seems rare n depends on
other factors ) of a further price drop . (with core 2 duo 4400 etc. launch).
3 U can save afew bucks by opting for MSI K9NGM2 (Rs. 4200) instead of
Asus M2NPV-VM . Almost same specs - Nvidia 6150 / MCP 430 chipsets.
4 If u dont really multitask then it is better to go for Athlon 64 3000+ with
a BETTER GRAPHICS solution ( if games r a priority ! ).
5 Forget this core 2 duo cheerleading . It sure is very good , BUT at
what price point ? N DOES EVERY ONE NEED IT ? - methinks NO.
SO , take u r pick if on very tight budget - 3000+ with Good Graphics.
if got the money then - go for a better technology + future proofing
i.e. 3600+ .
PS : I've checked out a lot of reviews n the MSI mobo is really good n at par with Asus if not better . And 3000+ would be apretty decent n smart choice as well (m considering the price )
yes. in dual channel u will get 2x533 effective speed. Using 2 x 512 is always better if u have 4 slots. If u want to upgrade memory later just add another 2x512 or 1x1GB in the next slots nd u ll have 512+512 x2 in dual channel.
yeah i wanted to say this only as 1*1 gb will be 64 bit and about 4000 mb/sec bandwidth and in dual channel its 128 bit and around 8000 mb/s
2x512 MB is only useful in the short term. If you add more RAM later on (you probably will seeing that 1 GB is on the low side), you will be forced to run at 2T command rate. If you buy 1 GB now and add 1 GB later you can enjoy dual channel and run at 1T command rate after your upgrade.
but u will have to look for same series memory module. If u dun get it...forget dual channel.
this is not aproblem i think to have dual channel series
they are easily made
after long terms also
As per me if ur board supports dual channel mode then it is definetly wise to keep a dual channel RAM configuration as it will boast the performance a lot. But u have only 2 slots for RAM than it would be wise to save the seond slot for further upgradation
^ yeah this is the correct thing if you want a performance boost
ok guys...thanx a lot for the responses... the mobo has 4 ram slots, so ill go for 2*512 .....
YEAH thats the right way buddy!!! good go ahead
and make sure to get both RAMs of same company, spped and timmings and fix them on board in alternate slots,i.e, leaving one slot in between
@DigitalImmigrant
in some mobos if u wanna run dual channel uve to insert the modules leavind one slots in b/w. Suppose there r 4 slots_A,B,C,D and A&B are one channel nd C&D r the 2nd channel. For dual channel uve to use A&C. (Most mobos)
but in some mobos the channels are like this:
A&C in one ch and B&D in 2nd(mobos like A8NVM) . So uve to use A&B for dual channel.
thanx evryone for their responses, ive repped u.............
I disagree with dr sahab.u should buy 2x512 instead of 1 Gb stick,because when u use it in dual channel,your FSB got doubled.So if u buy 512x2 MB RAM of 667 MHZ,it will become 1 GB of 1334 MHZ.On the other side if u go for 1 GB stick the FSB will remain 667 MHZ.Although there is a slight difference in the price but u will get the value for u r money.
Please read my entire reply.
2x512 MB will give you more bandwidth now but if you plan to upgrade the RAM to 2 GB in the near future then buying a single chip of 1 GB now makes more sense.
If 1 GB RAM is all you'll ever need then get 2x512 MB and run it in dual channel mode but if you feel that post-Vista you'll need 2 GB then buy a single 1 GB chip now, add another 1 GB chip later and run them in dual channel mode. Plus you'll still have 2 slots free for future upgrades.
Sorry my bad...i wasn't able to read the whole thread.
Well about now i think if u 512x2 FSB increased but very slight difference,i agreed but only in regular processes.But this dual channel differnce can be seen in games.U 'll see a major difference.Remember graphics card with higher FSB gives more bandwidth,just because of the memory.
And the price of 2X512 is higher than single 1 GB.
Anyways i think guys have make up their mind.
hi evryone
can u plz tell me the prices of these componets in mumbai?? the prices given by my dealer r also given, but can any shop in mumbai give better prices ??
athlon x2 3600+ & asus m2npv-mx == 12200

total is around 24500, mi budget is 25000
suppose i keep the mobo same nd get an athlon 64 3000+, to save some more get a 80 gb sata nd 512 mb only .....out of the balance, can i get a gfx card which can play carbon at 800x600, with eye candy, i dont want extremely high frame rate also..............
so whats ur opinion????
I already answered your query here *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3584&page=65
@Omsck I think u're paying a lot 4 ur Mobo + Proccy combo.I got my Athlon X2 3800+ & Asus M2N-MX for Rs.12584 bout 45days back,160GB WD 7200rpm HDD for Rs.3050.All prices r inclusive of taxes.
@assasin
from where did u get ur pc?? can u tell me the prices of each component of yours?nd is there a huge price margin in asus m2n-mx nd m2npv-mx??
nd huge performance diff in 3600+ nd 3800+??
can u run carbon at 800x600, with eye candy??
@drvarunmehta
mi dealer says dat msi mobo r not gud, is it true?? u said dat msi one is better nd cheaper than asus......is that guy cheating me or what??
MSI mobo r very gud,i've used them myself.Buy X2 3800+,it better dan X2 3600+.I dont know the price of Asus M2NPV-MX,so cant tell u the price difference.I ran NFS Carbon at 1024x768 res with good frame rates.I got my pc from Durgapur.Most of the componets in my pc were bought at diff times,latest being the mobo,proccy,ram,HDD and gfx card.Plz specify the components of which u wanna know the rates.
assasin, i want prices of all ur components....is durgapur in mp??
@Omsck
Here is a gud config for u
AMD Athon 3200+ nd MSI AM2 mobo-8.5k
2x512 DDR2 533-max5.7k~5.8k
250 GB hitachi sata2-3550/-
cab+psu400w local-1.3k
DVDRW-1.9k
GF 7300GT -4.6k or 7600GS for 6.2~6.5k
yeah MSI mobos nd also Gcards are gud. Ive very gud xperience with my older MSI GFX card.
Asua is better than MSI but MSI has its own advantage.MSI K8N Diamond plus has sound blaster audigy on it,where as ASUS A8N SLI-Deluxe is has nothing like that & is also costlier than diamond but ASUS has better performance in all aspects.
@Omsck Durgapur is a city 180km from Kolkata in West Bengal.
