Since you want to buy then go for "Kaspersky" otherwise avast! Free edition is sufficient. :)

Ready to buy: Kaspersky

Free: Avast

Both are the best products in their respective categories (Free/Paid).

Thats true. But almost at the same price you can get total internet security, all in one package wid Kaspersky. For most home users the bundled anti-spam, exe/registry guard, parental controls, anti-hacker firewall etc. are enough.

Kaspersky is the best in terms of detection. But if u want less memory hogging AV with a gud performance, try NOD32. I have been using it with ZA for quite sometime and havnt faced any virus, spyware prb. as yet...

That wont be a problem.
But if you ask me to change then which do you recommend??
I want something that gives protection in all areas.

Go with kaspersky antivirus with its internet security/ Zone alarm firewall.

In terms of detection rate Avira Antivir (Pro), Kaspersky and Norton are the best. But I choose Kaspersky as it has got the best interface and is also pretty light.
Nod32 is light but has a weak database.
