Desibond's suggested configuration is solid one But if you want to stay in your 40K budget you can go with HD4770 @7.2k suggested by him as well in that case you can save 1.5K on PSU as well going with Corsair VX 450w.

Or if you wanna have better GPU like Palit HD4870 1GB Sonic or Palit GTX260 sp216 896MB then go with Antec EA 650w still favors you 0.7K plus 100 watts more on continues power if ever required.

seriously for rendering purposes Intel seems to have upper hand. just search for reviews, and ull find even lo intel quads are better in this than PII 940. But when it comes to gaming and some other banchs, 940 even competes with i7.
ANd get an nvidia card as it has better support by the rendering softwares. ATI is good only in case of gaming or HD.
go for one with lots of VRAM, like GTS 250 1GB.

Thats what I have been trying to say over the past few days....
But people seem to misunderstand me.....

I didn't say AMD is rubbish but it is good only for gaming which concerns me very little since the games i play runs even on my old p4 1.7 Ghz machine. My work mainly concerns handling large databases, manipulating them and doing some serious number crunching with them. And in this case , I have seen myself that Intel performs better.

I have done some Image processing in the past, and there also Intel seems to have an upper hand, so thats why I recommended Intel to girish.......

Others may have different views.
I am just giving my opinion.

Intel Quad Core Q9400 price is less than 12K or Q8400 price 10.2K as in latest price thread.
Buy board from MSI/Gigabyte/Asus for better performance boards.my suggestion prices in bracket
Asus P5QL-E(7.2K) or P5QL Pro(7K) MSI P45 Neo-F(5.9K) MSI P45 Neo3-FR(7K)
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L(6.9K)

Monitor Samsung 2033SW@7.2k

HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB HDD @ 3.1k or Western Digital 500GB SATA HDD @ 3k (prices taken from Latest Prices Thread)

DVD Writer Samsung/Sony/LG SATA burner 1.1-1.2K
RAM Kingston/Transcend 4GB single stick 1.9K
Logitech Keyboard + Mouse combo 700-800
Palit GTS250 1GB GDDR3 @ 10k or 9800GT 1GB GDDR3 in 7.5K

the list has left out cabinet and PSU

for board I will say go for Asus P5QL-E

I too m a Intel fanboy and ati one too, but its true when it comes for professional rendering softwares nVidia sores mostly because of better support and few other factors.

40K budget is little limiting to buy 10K gfx card and good PSU, u may need to increase budget lil more to 45 or maybe 50K

^^^ Is the 4GB single stick available widely? Would 2x2GB not be a bit better? Or should it be 2x4GB? Dual channel should help I suppose!

@ desiibond
Have the prices risen agn? I got the Phenom II X4 940BE for 10.5k.

Intel is better for rendering, and so is nvidia with CUDA and some other addons. If u want a good P45 Intel Motherboard, then u may opt for the MSI P45-NEO-F @ 5.8k. U cn even get a WD 1TB HDD for less than 5k as I did a lil' while ago. Would be better since u do video editing/image processing as it needs a lot of space.

i think u not gonna OC on ur system. in that case get the cheapest p45 mobo. The one suggested by acewin seems good and has good vfm MSI P45 Neo-F(5.9K)

and do get a large monitor, like sam 2233s[22" 1080p hull hd]@ 10.5k or dell 2409s[24" full 1080p]@ 13.5k.
for gcard, 9800GT 1GB seems good. If u can take the risk, flash its bios with a quadro and get almost 5~10 boost in rendering and anim development.

for PSU, corsair VX 450 is a real good one and is more than enuf for ur need.

for procy
