The phones given by kirtan are the best IMO. Go for W700i if you are more biased towards music. If you want a better cam features then k750i.
It's possible to install W800i firmware on K750i, but I wouldn't personally try it though.

He's also asking for SE phones. And there's not really any Nokia phones in this range which can beat a SE phone in the 2 categories he's listed.

5300 will come for around 12k. You can also try 6131 (11k), 6630 (11.5k) 6681 (11.5k) E50 (12.5k). All these are from Nokia.

btw....yeah W700i is the best deal if urnt much into Mobile Softwares..

Agreed SE has the best camera in the above mentioned price bracket. But sound quality is equally good in 5300. It also comes with a 3.5mm adaptor in box. Also it comes with a 262k QVGA display, EDGE Class 10, bluetooth v2.0 which is quiet rare at this price. It is also a slider and comes with external music control keys. It also comes with a 256 mb card (not sure about this though). I think its quiet a good deal at this price. I guess only EDGE is missing from W700i and anyways I the priority of the original poster doesn't include EDGE ot atleast he's not mentioned so.
Anyways I will have a look at the phone, haven't seen it yet.

My sis wants a flap nokia phone....yes you heard it right...Nokia....nuthin else will do so no use suggesting ne other model...she doesnt like even V3i....

SE k750i is a great buy in this range.. jst that... its gettin outdated a bit.... u can also try nokia 5300 !!

he 5300 occasionally cuts out basses and lower frequencies. I just want to suggest him Good fone in his budget, I am not arguing with you but want to clear and make it understand to khin007 that SE have good fone in that Range Compare to Nokia.

After all we all are here to help each other and though we arguing, it is for best choice and not for personal benfit.

for 12k, the best Nokia fone is undoubtedly the 6233.

among SE phones, you can consider w700.

If you are comfortable with any brand go for Sony Ericsson w700i which retails for Rs. 12000 (thats the price I got you can get even cheaper now). I'd say its a better deal than K750i as you get a 256 MB Memory Stick (instead of 64), Walkman Player and what I like, a music cable with adapter to connect 3mm jacks like normal headphones or stereo (2.0 or 2.1) speakers. There are also a large number of softwares, themes, addons available for this phone on internet as it is backward compatible with K750i so it is the best deal you can get for that price. You will not regret this purchase over a Nokia if you are a audiophile like me, sound quality beats a Nokia hands down. I switched to it after I lost my Nokia N72 last month.

The only drawback is in some songs the volume can't be raised to very high (perhaps because of risks of lawsuits against loud volumes). But if you want to overcome that you can always use a PC software to increase the rate of volume (at the expense of a higher bitrate which is not a problem for a 256 MB memory card). Talking of cards, Sony has also slashed the prices of Memory Stick Duos so you can upgrade to Memory Stick which is Rs. 2260/- and Rs. 2860/- for 512 MB and 1 GB cards respectively (MRP), so expandability is open. The memory sticks also come with 5 year warranty which is even better.

Make sure you get your Sony Ericsson India warranty card which comes in the box to prevent spurious goods. Many dealers say bill is god enough but why not get it when it is give and makes you secure?

W700i is definitely a good phone, but I don't like its colour and Most important thing is that it lacks Autofocus.

I'll still recommend K750i

Actually K750i camera has autofocus while W700i camera has fixed focus. Hence K750i camera is better than that of W700i.

thank you guys for your valuable suggestions. but still i am confused. currently i m having a nokia 6600 . the think i hate about the phone is poor sound and ordinary camera. but i love its user friendliness and especuially as it is a symbian..

I don't think. w700i is gives much more clear and sharp sound than N70 did. If you really like music Walkman is the way to go, if its for casual listening N70 will be the better choice as its a Symbian phone.
