very strange it is that I am not able to write any DVD (i was able to write dvd before)
i am able to write cd properly with no probs.

i use two dvd-rw
1. LiteON LH-20a1p
2. sony dvdrw awg170a

both of them are not able to write DVD and burn process fails.
what's wrong they are not even an year old, though it's been 1 month I hav'nt used them much and now when i need them they are not working.

this is definitely a hardware problem. please help
using winxp sp2
c2d e6300 processor
g965 mobo ASUS
1gb ram @667MHz

1) Check the data cords (IDE/SATA cables), replace if necessary and test.

2) Check power connectors

3) Use a different software

4) Boot into a second OS, if you haf

OR

Use a Linux Live CD and try burning in from there

5) Try changing the media

6) Check in device manager for settings related to IDE/SATA Controller and DVD RW Drives for any problems/changes.

^^^ none of the software works? Then try booting into a linux live CD/DVD and try burning from there. It seems the imapi service in windows is not loading or there is some problem with the burning engine. Check control panel > admin tools > services and check if there is any error when launching the IMAPI service.
