There is no problem or any risk involved in getting it from US.
Apple provide International warranty with all its products but it wont be valid on iphone 4S as it hasn't been launched in India till yet

It means Carrier Locked and Unlocked. Like a locked Airtel phone, will only work with Airtel SIM cards. While an unlocked would support all mobile operators.

You'll need to ask him to get an unlocked phone.

No, you can't get an iPhone for $99/ $199.

Get your iPhone in India for $99 ( ~ Rs 4500 ) Only! » My World
