Hii friends.

After a long (& heated) discussion, over N73 ME vs SE K810i, I've finally made up my mind to go ahead with K810i.

The superb cam along with looks is the primary reason behind it.
I am not a symbian fan, so N73 does does not appeal me in that respect.
Besides, I am sure that K810i does not disappoint in the music department too.
Just tell me how is it's battery performance as SE usually disappoints in this field.

Anyways, I'd like to ask what points should I keep in mind while buying the phone.
Like, the latest firmware and etc etc etc ...

1) Check the manufacturing date. If it's too old, move on and get it in other store. The newer the make is, the less the flaws are and the latest the firmware will be
2) check the content in the box. There will be a list of content specified on the box. Tally it with the contects inside.
3) Get proper warranty card, signed and stamped
4) get a sealed box
5) check if there are any offers available in other stores. Some stores may give bigger memory card. Definitely an advantage.

remember you will get a 2gb memory card with it free not the default 128mb

Thanks, but no one commented about the battery life ...

Also, please confirm me on the music part, in terms of both loudness and quality ...

dont know about k810i but k790i has a great battery life lasts around two days with moderate music and videos. k790i is not that loud as w580i but headphone quality with hpm-70 is great

May 6, 2008 at 9:20 PM
K810i has a 1200mAh Li-Po battery. Unless you use it as digicam, you will get 9hr talktime. All in all, damn good battery
girish.g
May 6, 2008 at 9:21 PM
dont start using the flash too much. the battery nosedives if you click a lot of photos with flash on
iatb.gourav
May 6, 2008 at 9:24 PM
Yes, I can understand that flash consumes a lot of battery.

Now, I feel more relieved about my choice.

The guy at the store really frightened me when he said that k810i has a pathetic battery life and its music quality and loudness is equally poor.

I will prefer K810i over N73me. I don't know anythig about N73me's music quality but K810i's audio quality is pretty good and overall, it's much better than N73me.

thanks desibond.

more comments on the music quality and loudness of K810i are welcome ...

Sound quality in headphones is better in K810i. As for sound quality in loudspeaker, N73 is better.

Btw in my opinion getting the K790i would be a better idea since it has EDGE. K810i only has 3G which is useless in India.

have u checked it(any of your friend's k810i)?
is keypad ifs comfortable to u?
i think this type of reviews are varied from person to person and you can judge easily until and unless you check with your self
btw best luck for yr new phone

Disable the 3g & bluetooth.the battery life is fine.Even after playing games & music for abt (6-8 hrs per day),it last at least 1.5 day.Otherwise,a loong time.

I also chose k 810 over N 73 ME coz faster,no hanging, cheaper, better camera(debatable as N 73 is supposed to have a better lens ,but overall k 810 gives a better picture mainly due to the xenon flash & good digital signal processing ability). But N 73 ME has a better speaker & capture video at higher resolution.

Well, none of my friends have K810i. But, I have seen the dummy model and I felt pretty comfortable with the keypad.

Anyways, I went to the shop today to get K810i. But, due to strike the shop was closed.
Seems, I've got little more time to think over ...

What do you say guys ??

Please tell me more on the music part. I am only worried about it.

Please tell me more on the music part. I am only worried about it.

With the hpm 62 u get free with k 810 i,the quality is not good. But with hpm 70,there is a considerable increase in sound quality.Compared the sound quality of k 810 & w 800 with hpm 70,but didnt detect any difference.(am not an audiophile)

U can always buy a fake hpm 70 or whatever to get the fastport to 3.5 mm, & then buy a decent earphone to get good quality.(sennheisser cx 300,creative ep 630..)

Regarding the speaker's quality, its not much to talk about. But,then u cant really expect a mobile phone to give a v.good music quality(rivalling the quality with earphone). But N 73 ME seems to be a bit louder. So,dont worry if u want a good camera phone,go for it considering ur budget.Else i would have suggested n 82 if all u want was v.good music quality.(coz it can drive even shure earphones which would cost 5k upwards, not sure whether k 810 can do that).

I was also about to say the same thing......

K810i + HPM70 = Great Camera + Music

All the best for your new phone......:)

Thanks guys ... I was a bit worried and was even about to ask if I should think over Nokia 5700 if K810i does not give a pleasing music experience.

But, I dont think that I need to consider 5700 now.

As for K810i, I never listen to music via earphones. I use the speakers itself. So, loudness does matter to me.
If the music (via speakers) is inaudible even in a bit noisy surroundings (as in case of my Moto Z3), then the cell will not be of any use to me.

Sure I can wait for some time if required. But is it worth the wait ?? What will be the price of N78 ??

if un want loudness..why dont u go for the w910..it is the loudest phone available in the market..or go for any walkman phone...or u can mod the k810 with better acoustic drivers to make it sound louder...or better still..get urself a set of SE speakers..costs about 500 and connect it to ur phone through the fast port..nothing beats that.. :D

i found out that k810i + 2gb card + speakers cost Rs. 9850.
That'll be in my budget.

I am going to buy that.

I dont know about Moto Z3;but i personally think that nokia n73 ME or 5700 produces louder music.Have not really compared the quality but not sure whether there would be a difference considering the pathetic speakers u get with even music phones.U might have to rethink if loudness is what matters to u the most.

Yea, for the same very reason, I could not get my K810i as all the shops were closed.

n78 will be available in august...check it out tho..not the most comfortable keys to type into..

also the c702 will be out in a month..it has gps and a scratch resistant screen and a water-proof body..

should i wait for a couple of months for the n78 or c702 or any other ???

Yeah but the initial price is bound to be high right?.So it would be better to wait & buy some other mobile(like k 850) which by that time would have dropped its price further as suggested b4.
iatb.gourav
May 10, 2008 at 9:52 PM
If you read the reviews, then you'll come to know that C702 is "splash-resistant" and not "water resistant" !!

Anyways, personally I find the navigation system of K850i very awkward. I can bear up with the small keys and the d-navigation key.
But, the selection button is placed far above the keypad ... Won't that be too much messy ... ???

May 10, 2008 at 9:53 PM

I wish I had enough bucks to get a k850i today itself ...

Now, the only hope lies in my AIEEE results.

BTW, amd, can you tell me about the music of K850i in terms of both loudness and quality ??

the k850 is hell loud..and not only is it loud..unlike other phones, it has great clarity to the output sound...
the headphone quality is briliant as well..and when roped in with a pair of good quality headphones,an mp3 player is a burden..
yep..aieee results.. :(

sorry for the small bump :D .I have got the same phase as yours reading, researching over K810i vs N73 :D .now as N73 may be phased out soon,K810i is the only viable option.
besides,themobilestore guys quoted Rs10,000/- for K810i.

also,I have experienced with W810i for few days,it is a gem of a fone, but it lacks good camera with zoom :( .

Only sorrow is this is not UIQ(symbian). but core is symbian(I donno what benefit is there :p )

I am not in a mood to wait 3-4 months to see all those a,b,c,d (";)" ) series of SE and horribly priced newer N-series fones be launched here and again wait for price drop.

One thing - this 3MP camera of K810i,got only digital zoom(16x).

All mobile phones currently available in India except for N93, N93i and Samsung G800 have digital zoom. I think I've said this a number of times before, but I'll say it again. DIGITAL ZOOM IS EVIL. Stay away from it. It only cuts out a small section of the original image and interpolates it. You can very well do that on your pc as well. Never ever capture an image using digital zoom. Always capture it without the zoom. You can always zoom on your pc later on, but once you capture it using digital zoom, you cannot ever improve the image quality that got lost. Always remember, the only real zoom is Optical Zoom. Digital zoom is not real zoom.
