I'am using eclipse for sometime now, i can develop c, c++ and java using it. One Soln fits all. By the way kdevelop is also good. Some say that it was also one of the successes that boosted the kde team.

Eclipse crashes the whole system a lot, it is very heavy in resources, and it mess up all my java configuration.

I love vi.

Eclipse uses a lot of resources while start up, that's why so many crashes, it happened to me too when i had 512 MB ram, but now it's ok. May be why don't we try increasing the swap.

I have 1 GB RAM and 1.5 GB swap. Still it crashes a lot. I stopped using it ages ago.
