If you are interesed to customize your Windows by changing the default boot screen of Windows XP, here's how:

 Go at *www.themexp.org

Type "longhorn" in the search field (by title)

 Check for boot screens results.

Download one which is the best for you and save it on your desktop.

Unzip the files. Now, there's 2 versions of the file NTOSKRNL.EXE. The one is for SP1 XP and the other is for version of XP before SP1. So, if you use SP1, rename the file "ntoskrnl_SP1.exe" to "ntoskrnl.exe".

As you even know, you cannot change, delete or modify system files when WinXP is booting in normal mode. So, you have to boot in SAFE mode by holding F8 on start-up.

Now, when all is loaded (SAFE MODE), go into C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 directory. Replace the original NTOSKRNL.exe by the unzipped one. (Backup of original NTOSKRNL.EXE is recommended.)

Reboot in normal mode. You'll see your new boot screen at start-up. cool.gif

download files, put entry in boot ini (BootXP is best, it does that and makes a backup smile.gif)
