"netbooks" of whichever brand are almost of the same config. mostly. there are two three things to consider for the same
1. the battery life - opt for the six cell battery netbook so that u can use it for 5-6 hrs
2. up gradability of RAM - opt for the netbooks in which ram upgrade is possible atleast upto 2gb (tht too easily)
and try to opt for the cheapest possible option so as to serve the purpose

i saw samsung netbook under "deals of the week" last week on ebay .it was gr8 having all the features except bluetooth and OS (it was having ubantu)
it was of 15k i think (with 6 cell battery) and in silver color

dnt be in hurry just research for them and watch out ebay for 2-3 weeks , they generally throw out deals on netbooks every month tht too at gr8 price.

take a look at this it seems to be a tempting offer
i also hv discount coupen code for ebay (m not sure will it work on this or not)
still its an 1000 rs or 15% whichever is less .
u can pm me for the same or mail me on rbb.vikas@gmail.com
it does not includes shipping (its rs 840) but by using the coupon u may get the price to 13.5k
its isn't it..!!!!

^ thx vikas ill contact u soon as i final it

try hcl netbooks.

I think they sell one for 17k + freebies (quantity of freebies depends on your negotiation skills).

Also, i saw one samsung advertised in Nehru Place for 14k. 1ghz atom, 160 gb were its specs.

^ its Samsung N128 ur talking about
till now i have finalized to Hcl Mh04 and samsung n128
any other suggestions guys and
Could anyone can tell me the Street prices of the Above models ?

Samsung N128 is the cheapest I have seen.

But check out a Croma store near you. They sell a netbook of their own croma brand which seems quite decent. Its got the standard 1GB/N270/160GB config but comes WITH GENUINE WINDOWS XP HOME. Costs 16k (incl taxes I guess).

Since this is for your dad, don't expect him to run ubuntu comfortably

You need windows, that too XP Home. Not Vista or 7.
