The bandwidth offered in broadband is 256KBPS while the download is around 32 KBPS which is a number which is exactly divisible by 8. This all happens in all connections where the net speed is 'x' and its download is x/8. Why?

Because 256 is Kbps while 32 is KBps

Its 256 Kilo - bits per second, so in byte terms, as 8 bits make one byte these days, its 32 Kilo - Bytes per second.

This issue has faced many a war here :p

Bcz the KBPS as used by the ISP's is Kilo Bits per second, while ur computer downloads in Kilo Bytes per second ...

Now 1 Byte = 8 Bits hence 256 K(Bits)PS = 32 K(Bytes)PS

BTW U'll never get absolute 32 KBPS download on 256 KBPS connection it should be between 25 - 30 KBPS ...

Hope this answers ur question ...

yeah, every one is extremely eager to get a 256 kBps connection and their expectations are squashed when the techsupport informs that it is only 32 kBps.
