hi,
I need to buy the creative sound blaster x-fi surround 5.1 USB card for my laptop to get true 5.1 surround sound.
Anyone know what is the cost of the card & from where i can buy it.

I also got many negative feedbacks that it has driver problems in windows vista.
Can anyone able to solve this problem?

If you are referring to this one, its should cost around 4k I think:

You can find the driver here:

I saw few threads about the driver issue but they were dated around May 2008.

how about somethinglike this:
*us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=4&subcategory=136&product=9468

Found this in Golcha (bangalore) recently.

You may have to but external amp or decoder, use your audio out of laptop in passthrough mode to external amp.

The creative decoder converts a stereo in to 5-7.1 output.
so, it means virtual surround sound, not true surround.
I have only 2 options to get true 5.1 sound from laptop.
1st is usb sound card- least expensive.
2nd is creative ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook & Breakout box.

But the cost of the both express card & breakout box is unknown.
