Hi, I'm pursuing B.Tech. from an engineering college in Dehradun and I will to do some part time job from home. Since I've no work experience yet, all I can do is data entry (typing) job. I've no idea how to search for such jobs and I feel insecure if they're genuine or not. Please help me regarding, I need some information on this. Thank you.

Forget such jobs. They are neither worth the time nor the risk. Most of them are fake and con you in to paying them for a one time registration fee and they are never to be heard from again.

Rather do some some article writing freelancing.

Being risky is what I fear. Can you elaborate on article writing freelancing?

Part time online jobs are available. One of my friends does so, and its an Ad posting job. But its really tiresome. Not worth it.
Look at OLX Dehradun for such jobs.

Spend some time and learn HTML,SEO etc . It shouldn't take more than 2 months to learn them from scratch , if you are good enough.
THey'll pay you better than data entry jobs , plus you will have gained experience in HTML , web design by the time.

Data Entry ,etc are just wastage of time , and you'll learn nothing from them. In long run it'll be a wastage of time.

You mean I'll be designing websites for people and get paid?

Umm...Yeah. And they are easily available depending on your level of skills and expertise. In Fact , you may even land some local business too if you polish those skiils.
THey will really help in a long run , if you are planning to build a strong career in technology domain.

Reg. cost him 1.5k. And that's valid for 2 months. Per day he can post 100 ads at max. And each ad costs Re.1. But its really irritating and tiresome job. Takes long time. So, at the end you will get 3k per months out of which the comapny will take 10% i.e Rs.300. So, you finallly end up with Rs.2700. But he hardly managed to complete 1500 postings. He is continuing his 2nd month and this would be the last for him.
I would also suggest you to stay away from such jobs.

It depends on what u want to do. If u want to design websites or develop them. Designing part is mostly done on Photoshop. Development on HTML CSS n js for static sites. U can do both too. But that would take some experience. I suggest u to develop rather than design. Easier learning curve than designing.

Actually that would be a big advantage , if you really manage to do that. Since by the time you'll graduate , you'll have plenty of experience over your peers giving you an advantage.
W3schools.com provides a very decent platform for beginners , but I would recommend you to go through Youtube videos and several beginner Ebooks/PDFs for learning HTML and CSS.

Mastering the art of designing web pages can take a long time , so the best you can learn is through practice and understanding.

Nevermind, just take take note of this as well. Not that you couldn't have done it yourself, but that it saves time. So, one of the most popular ones out there are these two

There are some genuine data entry jobs available, they are however difficult to find and are lost in the noise. HOWEVER I made a lil site to highlight them! :).
Check it out: Direct link for data entry jobs:
Freelancing rocks

Never work too cheap though. your time is better spent studying. Some data entry jobs like captcha typing pay like nothing!

Just forget about online data entry jobs.
1. You won't be able to find one that's good enough (read genuine)
2. Most are scams, asking you to pay blah registration fees and stuff, and once you do that, you're doomed, so, don't even fall in that trap.
3. Earning money is not that easy as they make you to believe. Even if you land a genuine data entry job, it's excruciatingly tiresome. I've tried data entry jobs two times (offline) and that was actually typing job. They have a number of conditions, most of which are quite hard (not impossible) to fulfil. Most often, they won't pay you citing different excuses like errors/mistakes in your work and such.
4. As someone suggested, starting a blog and putting up ads, it's x times (replace x with whatever number you like) harder than the ease he/she posted that. Ad services don't flock in to put up ads on your blog as soon you create a blog and start posting, neither people run after clicking ads on your blog as soon they land on your blog. Then there are a number of complications involved in earning from ads and there are minimum payout limits too. To really earn from a blog, you need to establish yourself as an authority on the subject matter you choose to blog on. You need to be active on your blog, and be disciplined with your blog and contents, and once you continue to do so, you may expect to earn something, though, this might take more than a couple of years, before you get a good amount of money.
5. Earning from freelancing too is an option, but as long as you're a fresher, you won't be able to land jobs on freelance job portals. No one wants to get their work screwed. If you seriously want to get into freelancing, make yourself competent enough to handle whatever people ask you to do in your domain, and you might end up earning a handsome amount. Same is true for web development. Once you've got a few projects, and you've successfully completed all with the client's complete satisfaction, you can expect to get more offers via word of mouth marketing, but getting those first few projects is a hard thing. You might also be required to offer free help to people who need it, to build a reputation for yourself among your peers or people you know/interact with more often.

I'll suggest, Just concentrate on your studies for now!

In case you want to learn HTML, CSS, I'll suggest starting off with w3schools.com. Their Try out editor is quite helpful to show you instant results sans the clutter in creating html files and saving and running on the browser. I've been using it for quite some time now to learn CSS and PHP. As far as CodeAcademy is concerned, I didn't know of it till now, and the first impressions tell me that this is quite promising too.

Yes, why should I work for you and pay the "registration fees" even if it is one time?

anyone who asks for a registration fee will not return it back even if they say they will do it. they will put up so many rules and conditions that your work will always be rejected and fee forfeited. stay away from them like BUBONIC PLAGUE. If you are interested in data entry job, look for offline ones in your city but without any registration amount.

If you follow up on latest tech trends and all that, you should try to get a job as a news poster. There are many websites who look out for those who can post news. Its pretty easy as long as you write the right stuff and quote the proper sources. Techspot has a news contributor from India, same goes for VR-Zone. I am on 1 week trial for a job as a news reporter in TweakTown. So, if you follow such sites, sometimes they list jobs. You'll never know! I feel that's better than a data entry job.

Try blogging and monetize on adsense if you are good in writing on some specific thing.

Its only reliable thing if you want a safe bet.But initial earning will be very less and hard to pickup.
