dell laptop received can i start using it?

i have received my dell 1420 inspiron. can i start using it or is there any installation to be done. all dell users answer this for me.

surely it comes with pre installed window xp/vista .so go ahead

first startup will ask few questions like registering...creating user name and passsword........

Just fill those..and start enjoying

i have started using it. was a little confused on should i start or not? thx for the replies.
