I simply use VIRTUALDUB MOD. Its free. And its size is only about 1.5 MB.

how long does it take to convert a movie into 700mb avi divx ?

i converted a 315 MB video from *.dat format to XVID avi, it took about 10 minutes. Converting to DIVX would probably take the same amount of time.

the tut also makes use of it but the tut also explains ways to correct sound delays adjust screen sizes and all explained with images

i didn't even see the tutorial once. but i referred VIRTUALDUB as i thought that it is the best program to convert videos into *.avi format.
