i already used Nero 7 & 9 and imgburn. all software fails to burn dvds. nero shows error " This process can not be completed" and imgburn shows error" finalization error: track mismatch"....

How old is your current DVD writer?

if it is more than 2-3 years old then perhaps it has gone bad, but do what the others have advised you on this forum.

Try different versions of Nero beginning from version 6, personally i still use Nero 6.6 on my system running Windows XP Professional as i find it to be very stable.

Next, try a decent brand of recordable media such as Moser Baer or Sony.
i use Moser Baer Pro DVD-R recordable media.

Try to burn the disks at the least possible speed.
It worked for me also.
