Yeah, even Dark Souls 3 actual game had somewhat different graphics from the trailer. I think this is actually supervised by Miyazaki so it will have all the classic Dark Souls mechanics including multiplayer. Story however will be the same obscured bullshit even if GRRM is the writer.
Neither did I, but the fact that jumping attack and charged R2 does significantly more posture damage doesn't seemed to be changed, as the item description for posture breaking says they do.
I did
Well, completed the game; exploring the lyndell Undergrounds right now. The stuff to collect and areas to explore seem to never end! Have put the game on hold currently to pursue other games though.
I also have 119.8 hours into this game, so...
You mean the raised platform?
Yeah, though I am done with that area now. Currently in the Raya Lucaria academy proper.
Beat the main boss yet? Could remind you of another one from DS:3
Last I beat Red Wolf of Radagon, reminds me of Sif from Dark Souls 1. I haven't played in the last three days, too much work.
I myself have around 50+ hours so far.
Yeah. You have the freedom to explore and level up your character in side dungeons and optional bosses before challenging any main boss. And experienced players can just skip what's unimportant. The only problem I have with Elden Ring is that From has reused bosses and areas a lot to fill the open world which kind of makes the game feel repetitive at times, unlike Dark Souls series where almost all bosses have something unique about them.
Yeah... you could make the case for some repetition, but sometimes its too much. I have met 2 of the major bosses that were copied again in a dungeon. They weren't even minibosses, but the boss of an entire area. Imagine if we had copies of Taurus and capra demons just lying und--- bad example. Anyway, the dragons being copied away is the worst offender though... Like, yeah, the first dragon fight was quite memorable for me, but really... I never killed one dragon after that (and unlike skyrim, they ain't unskippable... so
Lol. I know what you mean.
If you follow the direction pointed by the grace you will reach the main boss of the area. But I suggest doing the side bosses first. Here are where you can find some of them in the field:
TBH I'd rather people play Dark Souls series before this to really appreciate how the series has evolved.
Gotta say they are handling updates for this game very well. Great way to keep things fresh for the people. Interesting that spirit ashes are allowed in here.
PVP is one of the best aspects of soulsborne games. I just started playing Elden Ring though, so I dont know how it's PVP is. But I hope its as good or greater than DS3 (Except for the farron cancer sword).
Why?
Well, Elden Ring is closer to Dark Souls than normal open world games like Skyrim or The Witcher 3 (though IMO the witcher 3 has worse combat). No hand-holding is a staple of the series and the game encourages you to develop your own combat style. In fact the game is much easier if you play a spell-casting build since all you need to do is stay back and cast spells. Also, From has made Elden Ring pretty easy already, given the summon ashes, simplified upgrade mechanics and stealth.
A single player DLC will come out later. I think at least two more DLCs will come out.
PVP is good. I was playing a few sessions before going home for the holidays in the Limgrave Colosseum. I am on NG+, so haven't unlocked the other colosseums yet.
The game is difficult, I played for about 11-12 hours before modding it, as simple as that. Barely defeated Margit, the tutorial boss in few tries (at lv35 or so). My friend enjoys the difficulty (I surely don't like playing the same boss for hours) & is now playing NG+ with a hammer. He recommended me to start with dex build instead of magic, although I completed the game with a hybrid of dex + magic, built around Moonveil.
You should use player summons, (or npc summons) they make bosses a breeze. I DK which covenant that is in elden ring (the gold one). It lets you summon other players to help with bosses. 1v1 bosses become cancer sometimes. plus you both would get extra rewards (covenant item)
I was definitely using summons (wolf & jellyfish initially) & Margit had a NPC summon as well.
You can summon actual players to help you with bosses. They would be summoned as "White" or "Gold" phantoms.
You have to use the finger furcalling remedy outside the boss room or wherever the closest stake of marika is. It will make signs left by helping players appear. That's how I beat Radahn, but this is the only boss I summoned help for.
Since it was my first time, controls weren't a big issue. Although, trying to run & change cam using RS needed some finger exercise.
I remapped it to make Y for jumping and A for interact, like in Dark Souls. The advantage of this setup is that running with B and then pressing Y to jump afterwards is more natural than doing B -> A.
Yeah, I used to face same issue. But I got used to it after sometime. Key is to use the right stick to turn as much as possible and use left stick to "strafe" in a sense.
That is a very good idea man, I always have trouble jumping while running. I think B ->Y would be much more natural like executions in shadow of mordor.
Yup tried it on launch, the first battle was interrupted due to a server error, the second it finally successfully connected. I won, sent ss of it to anyone who could bother to see. Thought this update was cool and basically never opened it again XD
What's funny if you would have said the same for dark souls I would have asked you to play the game again without mods to enjoy it fully. But with Elden Ring I definately agree with the wonky difficulty curve. It isn't that the game is hard and gets easier as you git gud, the game remains hard AF for anyone underleveled and is a breeze if you get overleveled by mistake. I mean you did lose some of the charm, but then again some of the frustration.
Yes I know but they have the coolest moveset I have ever seen in any souls game. I am referring to the sword throwing and controlling in mid air.
I partly blame my friend for the toughness I faced in game as after completing, I can say mages are the best for most players. My friend put me up for dex build saying it will be much more useful later in the game, but even after completing, I don't see how mage would have been put into massive disadvantage. I used a Moonveil build to finish the game.
That's just how it is. Though I personally just quit to main menu if I want to pause, you don't lose anything by doing so. You can even quit out during boss fights and when you reload you will be outside the boss door. Its a valid strategy and speedrunners use it all the time as well.
I haven't tried Dex builds yet but I am guessing starting as Samurai should be good.
Uchigatana is what I used, that too dual wielded it, got second one from a dungeon, close to initial areas you visit. Later on I moved to Moonveil + Uchigatana.
Me too, u started as samurai ?
I figured it out, I was using malwarebytes VPN and it seems cloudflare doesnt play well with it. Thats why I got 403.
Yes, I think, my pro friend recommended me dex builds (later realised he is a hardcore guy who like tough game, he beat NG+ with hammers & was stuck on Malenia for about 2 days - doesn't use summons or mimic). Another friend of mine started the game today, I asked him to play with mage. I don't expect him to finish to game, unless he decides to use easy mod as well. I have another friend who bought the game but never finished it.
Wow. Now that's what I call real hardcore lol.
Nice
Lordsworn straight swords with bleed on both.
Looks interesting for sure
Well, I don't want to aritfically keep playing when there are many others still in the backlog lol. I am more interested in seeing what other's experience was. Feel like older Fromsoft games were more fun to go back to
I played a bit today, made some progress on my NG+ character. Finished the Dung Eater's quest. I mostly prefer boss rushing these days.
Perhaps you should stop then
I think this about all the previous games, including this one.
I think this is especially true for Elden Ring in particular. The main value of Elden Ring seems to be the exploration. You can't explore something after you have already seen it... Waiting for the dlc to drop, this time I'll try to take it slower
Well, then I guess you won't have much context for my impressions of the DLC.
Feel free to share them though, I am interested.
Will need all to get the Trophy in PS5
You only need legendary weapons IIRC.
do you mean achievements in steam ? that you can get in a couple of playthroughs. like getting all spells, incantations. Getting all weapons is too difficult though. You wont need to do this, once you find the weapon you like, you gonna stick to it forever.
OMGWTF.
I am thinking of trying the Samurai build and Pure Magician build.
353 hours.
There is a hidden shortcut teleporter behind the Third Church of Marika that will also take you there directly.
You need the Sentry Torch to be able to see them. They are still pretty difficult to kill.
On PS5.
I'm guessing it goes by achievements related to main bosses. In Elden Ring (and other souls games) there are some bosses you have to defeat in order to progress the game. Perhaps you have not defeated any plot relevant bosses yet which is why it's stuck at 16%.
Radahn is a main boss. You have to defeat him to get access to Nokron and progress the game.
Check your inventory again and see if you still have the Baldachin's Blessing you got from Fia. If it's not there, then try restarting (quit to menu and reload) the game or resting at a grace.
I have used that blessing already twice but it is still there. I will check again in my inventory. Right now I am trying to complete the side-quest as some characters side quest can be skipped if they are killed or I move ahead far in Story
Golden Scarab + Shuffle between Green Turtle or Twinblade Talisman
No. Though there is a talisman that improves dodge rolling but at the cost of taking higher damage: *eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Crucible+Feather+Talisman
Nothing wrong with that build. I personally have enough endurance to equip the Fingerprint shield and one great weapon.
Yes. Though they are not official and could be considered hacks. I'd avoid those since you would risk getting your account banned.
Arcane mostly. Dex does not affect bleed, but it scales the damage of katanas and some curved swords which have bleed. A good bleed build could be using dual wielded katanas and then scaling dex and arcane. Top this off with some talismans like Mohg's and you should be good.
I usually choose the summon depending on what I'm up against. But around mid-game I use the Mimic Tear summon almost exclusively. It basically creates a copy of your character with the same equipment and skills. Another good summon is Black Knife Tisch, who debuffs enemy health with her abilities, but available late game only while doing Ranni's quest.
It's useless since you will gain diminishing returns after around level 40 for most attributes.
OK. So I'm using Bloodhound Fang which has Bleed Damage of 55 and Scaling requirement is Str & Dex. No Arcane. So, if I raise the str & dex the bleed damage will be more right.
My personal suggestion is to give all prayer books to the turtle in the Church of Vows. While other NPCs will move about or die the turtle will always be there, even in end game, and you can buy spells and incantations from it always.
Ok. but the spells/incantations unlocked will be same even if I give it to some other mage ?
