This link will help you.
I suggest you to upgrade to IE7 release version rather than a beta version.

I had installed IE7 and WMP11 ever since they were released.. However, I'm unable to see the tabs option in IE7...!! I have genuine XP with SP2, but have disabled windows update...! Any ideas to get the tabs..

Note: I hardly use IE... probably only if I have to check the dataone usage.. Nowadays I use FF with datafox extension for that too.. SO if its going to involve too much work, I can ignore it.. :D :D :D

maybe it needs some "Registry hack" to enable it again.

& make sure your PC is free from virus/spy-wares...

Feb 25, 2007 at 7:50 PM
^^^ PC free from viruses and other ad/mal/spy wares.. Anyway, D/L going on now.. finished the validation..

Ok.. D/L over.. Will let you know in a while..!! ;)

Ok guys... Its solved.. Reinstall did it..!!
I think I now realise what the problem was.. During install, IE asks whether I want to download recent updates for IE and Malicious softweare removal tool. Previously I remember disabling the option. This time I allowed it to connect to the net, and I get no problems..!!

 Does that mean the actual .exe file that MS provides does not have a tab enabled version..??

nope, it must have been some corruption of file or someone messed with the Registry.

i too installed IE7 2 days back & unchecked those things during installation, & no problems faced coz of that:wink:
prasad_den
Feb 25, 2007 at 8:15 PM
^^^ Weird..!! Coz I installed IE7 right after a fresh format and reinstall of XP with SP2.. So little chance of a corrupted registry being a cause..
