Facebook replaces Chrome recommendation with Opera, foreshadowing? - TechSpot News

Facebook reported to be in talks to acquire Opera - Internet | ThinkDigit News

Facebook has reportedly dropped their support for Google’s Chrome web browser, instead replacing it with Opera on their recommended browser list. The move could signal that a rumored acquisition of the browser maker is nearly complete.

When a user visits the social network using a browser that isn’t official supported, Facebook redirects them to a page that lists browsers they say will give users the best experience. Until recently, that list included Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Chrome. Observant viewers have since noticed that Chrome has been replaced by Opera in this list, although independent testing on my end with Chrome didn’t trigger the same browser warning that others are experiencing.

Like button on a browser anyone?

Opera as well as HTC is on FB's want-to-buy list.

So, what changes to expect? Opera's default homepage is Facebook and you can't change it ;)

There should be a law that doesnt allow good Software/Company to be bought.Okay Sometimes it's okay but not buying everything.
Mark Zuckerberg is off the 40 richest people. As fb's shares fell?Wow.So now he wants to buy opera great.Next vijay mallya? He'll have a huge debt soon
Eg:-Skype allowed free conference(Group Chat) calls before.
OT:
1)But recently i tried a group chat-Me,uncle,cousin.It dint work it said you need to pay.WTH?
Few months back it was free.
2)Like before Air Decan-Kingfisher merge.Kingfisher was better. Now see whats the condition.
3)If htc is bought by Facebook. What will we see.A ugly facebook button on the phone?Like Htc chacha/Salsa.No thanks i dont want an fb button.Or maybe some ugly UI.
Seriously is it only me or is facebook becoming to boring these days.
4)Facebook is know to spoil the used to better thing.Like timeline? No one likes it right?

Facebook mobile will be made by HTC but there are rumors that Facebook may buy HTC. In future if they plan to release more mobiles, they need a hardware partner. Even Google have done the same. Bought motorola though the reason was slightly different.

powered by Android that looks like Facebook and feels like facebook. FaceDroid :p

3)If htc is bought by Facebook. What will we see.A ugly facebook button on the phone?Like Htc chacha/Salsa.No thanks i dont want an fb button.Or maybe some ugly UI.

a dedicated FB button. instagram integrated into the camera. ads straight to your mobile. menu have facebook games.

we'll see atleast a few from the above list.

Opera's my favorite browser. And I don't use FB. If this acquisition occurs, will they hunt me down and kill me? :(

FB trying new tricks to get more user base. But I see it dwindling at least from my perspective.
