fsb means front side bus.....
fsb determines the clock at which the processor works including multiplier.fsb has to be there on every cpu....in one name or other...its not known as fsb on amd64 and sempron 3100 its known as
hyper transport bus.....a diff and better technology.
basically it defines the speed of a processor.
hyper transport aint the speed of ur proccy
its 1000mhz in amd 64z
fsb used 2 connect the proccy 2 the memory controller , which was situated in the north bridge of the mobo . this memory controller then was connected the RAM slotz . due 2 this long pathway , latencies end 2 increase n hence the performance decreases
as u must b no-ing , the memory controller is integrated on the proccy die ( chip ) in the case of amd 64 . thus there aint no need 4 the conventional fsb , coz the memory controller is already on the proccy . in comes the hypertransport . hyper transport is the pathway connecting the RAM chips directly 2 the proccy , there being no need 2 route the data thru the north bridge
hope this answers ur querry
