well, i want to know that every game which is provided in the dvd with the magazine are installed only through steam or not?.is it not possible to install it without steam?.

Alpha(BlackMesa) or Omega(Demos & Full games)?

It depends on the game.

nowadays, its safe to just install Steam on your PC, and leave it that way, no need to run it, or update. without steam, some games just crash.

No not every game requires Steam

no steam is not required. Those games who need steam have been properly mentioned in the DVD.

In simple, BlackMesa requires Steam.
Games in Omega are just "Install & Play" types.
