1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Gaming and entertainment. Games like farcry3, black ops 2, fifa 13, hitman absolution, skyrim, ac3... HD movies.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans:40k (45k max)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans:not as of now

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: windows 8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans:1 tb

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: 21.5''-24'' 1920x1080

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: RAM g.skill f3-10666cl9-4gbnt
Speakers
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: within a week

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: friend

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: will buy from nehru place. yes (preferred flipkart)

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: my friend who will assemble for me told me to get an asus mobo as he has had bad exp with gigabyte and asrock. for gpu, radeon over nvidia. intel build is preffered.

for the monitor i was planning to get benq G2420hd or GL2450HM

Are you open to AMD based configuration? One of the forum Members has purchased AMD FX 8350 @ 11.4K from Neheru place very recently. FX 8350 performs better than i5 3550.

Yes i am open to an AMD based configuration.

But i would like an intel based option too, if possible.

Intel based:

Intel Core i3 3220 @ 7.2K
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D2H @ 4.2K
WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA @ 3.4K
Sapphire/Gigabyte HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 @ 13.4K
Corsair CX430V2 @ 2.6K
BENQ GW2250HM LED Monitor @ 8.7K
Logitech MK200 Keyboard and Mouse Combo @ 0.5K

Total: 40K

Thanx!!

just to compare, can you tell me an AMD based one too? The one with AMD FX 8350.

I think ill extend HDD to 1tb seagate barracuda. thatll be .8k more.

Im actually fine spending upto 45k so tell me the AMD acc. to that.

AFAIK, Seagate is offering 1 year warranty for their 1TB HDD, at least in India. I checked in Flipkart and Itwares and in both places it is mentioned as 1 year warranty. On the other hand, all the WD HDDs are coming with 2 years of warranty which is very important as HDD is more prone to failure than other components due to its mechanical components.

For AMD FX 8350, if you're buying from Neheru Place then you'll get it around 11.4K. For motherboard, get the Asus M5A97 around 6.5K. Rest will be same.

Alright then. ill get the wd caviar green 1tb@4.3k instead.

As for i3 3220/GA-B75M-D2H vs FX 8350/M5A97.

is the difference of 6.5k really worth it?
The new total comes to about 47.5k..
If its really worth it, i might just get the 47.5k configuration.

Yes its worth.

But let me add another option since you are upgrading your budget :p

Intel Core i5 3450 / 3550 @ 12k
Intel / Gigabyte B75 board at around 6.5k

I will go with the amd based configuration because of the following reasons.

1. Cilus' 1st response to this thread where he says fx8350 performs better than i5 3550.
2. I prefer asus mobos to gigabyte as my friend has had bad exp with gigabyte and generally asus is better from what iv heard.
3. Its cheaper though only by .6k but still. As im already over my budget id like to save every penny.

Correct me if im wrong here.

I prefer WD since my old zenith system which I purchased in 2003 paying 30k had 40GB IDE HDD and from then I have changed the motherboard twice(now my zebronics motherboard 845 is working well for more than 2 or 3 years), given Ram(DDR1) upgrade, monitor repaired only once but the HDD never gave me a problem. It has been formatted so many times but still runs like a charm. Way to go WD.

@ dhruv94

Fx 8350 is a very good cpu but i doubt you'll be able to use it optimally.

My point is since you'll only be playing games, i reckon the Fx 8350 and i5 3550 will perform similarly. The amd cpu has advantage in multithreaded apps like video encoding, and others.
Even if you plan to run a database client, i would suggest the fx 8350.

But for only gaming and entertainment, its kind of unnecessary considering the power envelope it brings. i5 3450 + b75 board is more than enough for a platform build.
Concentrate on a better gpu since you'll be using a full-hd monitor.

Check the following:

Intel Core i5 3450 @ 11K
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D2H @ 4.2K
WD Caviar Blue 500GB SATA @ 3.4K
Sapphire/Gigabyte HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 @ 13.4K
Corsair CX430V2 @ 2.6K
BENQ GW2250HM LED Monitor @ 8.7K
Logitech MK200 Keyboard and Mouse Combo @ 0.5K
Cabinet - NZXT source 210 elite @ 3k
Optical drive - Asus dvd-rw - 1k

This will be very good for gaming and entertainment. For gpu, you can also consider the Gigabyte gtx 660/oc @ 14.5k
Its faster than a 7850 and 1k expensive. Try to get this.

For ups, go for apc 600va for 1.5k.

vickybat..

iv heard that the FX 8350/AsusMobo combo will be more future proof than the i5 3450/GigabyteMobo combo. is that right? and since its giving the same performance as of now...

almost everything else is finalised. Just this mobo+cpu doubt remains.

im going with:
WD Caviar Green 1 TB @ 4.3k
Sapphire HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 @ 13.4K
Corsair CX430V2 @ 2.6K
BENQ GW2250HM LED Monitor @ 8.7K
Logitech MK200 Keyboard and Mouse Combo @ 0.5K
NZXT source 210 elite @ 3k
Asus DVD-RW @ 1k

total-33.5k

Although im inching towards intel based on price and what you said
i5 3450 + GA-B75M-D2H is 15.2k
Fx8350 + Asus M5A97 is 17.9

If it is just for Gaming and Entertainment on a 22/24 inch HD monitor you are far better off with a

Intel i3 3220 - Rs 7100 (more than you will ever use or actually need)
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H - Rs 4300
GPU - GIGABYTE /MSI HD 7870 - Rs 16800 ( spend the extra money here and not on a mega multi core processor you dont need them for gaming.)
HDD - WD Caviar Blue 500GB - Rs 3400
SMPS - CORSAIR SMPS-CX430V2 - Rs 2450
Cabinet - NZXT Beta EVO/Gamma/Source 210 Elite - Rs 2600
Display - BENQ G2222HDAL LED (1920x1080) - Rs 7650

Total Rs 44,300

With that GPU and CPU combo your Rig will leaps and bound ahead in almost all gaming scenarios.

instead of all this confusion, ive finally decided to stick by the first conguration given to me by Cilus.
except the HDD. (+.9k)
Adding the cabinet and optical drive and ups recommended by vickybat. (+5.5k)

Total = 46.4 k + PERFECT!!

THANX all for your speedy replies

For Gaming and HD movies, i3 3220 is enough for now. FX-8350 is recommended only if you are in CPU intensive tasks like running database, using Phtoshop, performing Audio/Video Editing and Encoding etc. In those cases FX-8350 will flex its mussels and beat the pricier Intel alternatives like i5 3570K.

Your choice will be like this:
If you want to spend not more than 8 to 9K in CPU then i3 3220. Till date AMD does not have any answer to it in Indian market. When FX-4300 and FX-6300 will be available then that will be our choice.
If you want to spend 10 to 12K in the CPU then FX-8350 is the best choice. It is better than similarly priced Intel i5 3470 in every performance parameters and provides a better future proof configuration due to better upgrade path, advanced instruction set supports which will help in newer applications and multithreaded apps.

Man the fx 4300 and 6300 are really missed in these scenarios.

Would love to suggest those in sub 45k budget pc's. What the heck is amd doing?

No doubt its market share is going down. When people need their cpu's , they are not available.

I have bought the exact same config 2 days back except i have 20 inch 1600x900 samsung monitor and i am planning to buy a gigabyte gtx 660. So my question is can corsair cxv2 430 handle a 7870 with this config? I thought that a 7870 requires two pci power connectors but corsair cxv2 430 has only one 6+2 pin power connector. Also wont the i3 3220 bottleneck 7870?

7870 will work fine with the Corsair 430w.
Use a convertor for the gpu power connectors. molex to 6pin.

Peak power consumption at load is around 280(furmark). proc is another 90 or so.
Corsair 430w v2 being a solid unit, it could handle OP's rig.

OP could also opt for a 500w. Its peace-of-mind and may handle any further additional loads.

CX430V2 is enough to handle a HD 7870 since their will be no overclocking involved. The CPU has TDP of only 55 watts. His system will stay well within 300 watts even under full load. And the better part is all the major 336 watts (28A) of power of the CX430V2 is on the 12V rail! So no problem there.

Everything bought at nehru place from multiple shops like cost to cost etc.

Almost every price qouted above is correct take or give rs 100 except

HD7870 - 16.1k :)
i3 3220 - 6.8k :)

Also got a cooler master cabinet instead of nzxt.

I love it! It amazing.
instead of buying the monitor, i just connected it to my sony tv using an hdmi cable! Saved 8k on that!

Also learnt how to assemble from my friend who did it for me.

Thanks all!
