Bought a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H ( link ) on august 2010 - motherbaord submitted for RMA on 2nd August 2012 at Accel RMA Center, Kolkata.

RMA No/ Call id : GBTKOL120004699DW

Got a call today from Accel ( Gigabyte Authorized Service Center ) and they are saying that they are going to to give me GA-M68M-S2P with 1 year extended warranty ( Link ) but this is a less powerful motherbaord compared to the GA-MA785GM-US2H and no version of GA-M68M-S2P is compatible with the cpu ie Phenom II 955 BE ( 125W TDP ) I've ( Link ) - when I said them this and asked for a better replacement ( even asked for a DDr3 motherboard ) they told me that they can't provide me with any other replacement motherboard other than the GA-M68M-S2P ( non compatible ) and will repair the GA-MA785GM-US2H submitted for RMA . Accel asked me to call them today abvout what I've decided.

Now this is how Gigabyte suppose to handle RMA for obsolete ( read DDr2 ) motherboard ?? Providing customer with a non compatible ( cpu ) and less powerful motherboard ?

will post a scanned copy of RMA doc later .....

Don't accept the motherboard they are offering. It is inferior and very old.
Directly contact them from this link: GIGABYTE GTS
Tell them about this problem in details.
Attach the pdf file there.

Refuse it. They should either give the same one or a better one. Ask for a 880GM-UD2H.

GA-M68M-S2P sucks. Old nForce chipset and VRM unsuitable for even mild overclocking with 125w CPUs.

I'm not accepting what they are offering me - I thought a company like Gigabyte ( and it's after sales service providers ) will at-least have the knowledge to give a equivalent ( even DDr3 ) motherboard for the cpu I've and who will trust on the quality of repair where their technical personel don't even know whihc motherboard is compatible with which cpu ?? - but what they are offering me is no way acceptable

when my 785G motherboard went bad i was provided with a 880G USB3 (former was USB2) and moreover the warranty was totally bumped up as it was a new sealed piece. Its not Gigabyte, its Accel messing up the RMA process.

Contact Gigabyte and give them the link of this discussion. They always have some stock of old motherboards.

It is not the problem with Gigabye, but their service partner Accel frontline.
Just use the link I've posted. ;)

And see what happens.

^^ quality, performance and feature wise GA-M68M-S2P is inferior compared to GA-MA785GM-US2H and I'm surprised to see the quality of their RMA providers ( tech support ? ) - no way I'll accept either the GA-M68M-S2P or a repaired motherboard.

Will contact their tech support ( Real Gigabyte but what Accel guys are doing then ?? ), their Sales and Marketing dept. and this e-mal id :
arnabc@gigabyte.in.

So, this sums up to the conclusion that 'Kolkata is the worst place for RMA'. First was Rashi and members used to avoid Asus for A.S.S and opt Gigabyte instead. And now this starts with Gigabyte too.

BTW why dont you ask Digicare Smartlink. They also provide RMA for Gigabyte. Ask 'em if they can provide a new or better replacement.

^^ Can you give me his e-mail id.

Anyway, Thanks guys - it's encouraging to see you are all by my side like before - going to mail this whole incident to Gigabyte and Digit Mag.

So, this sums up to the conclusion that 'Kolkata is the worst place for RMA'. First was Rashi and members used to avoid Asus for A.S.S and opt Gigabyte instead. And now this starts with Gigabyte too.

looks like .

BTW why dont you ask Digicare Smartlink. They also provide RMA for Gigabyte. Ask 'em if they can provide a new or better replacement.

sumonpathak has already told you Digicare Smartlink don't provide RMA support for Gigabyte motherboards anymore but here's I'm going to tell you a little true story about how harassing and confusing it can be to RMA a Gigabyte motherboard :

Gigabyte India has listed ACCEL FRONTLINE Service Center authorized service center and the address is :

12, LOWER ROWDON STREET, 1ST FLOOR, KOLKATA - 700 020
Mr. Swapan Kumar Kundu
40033750 / 51/62 /64
swapan.kundu [@] accelfrontline.in

which is completely wrong - Another address of Accel is :

ACCEL CARE CENTER
KAUSIK SAMADDAR
ASK INFOTECH
220/1, A.J.C BOSE ROAD GROUND FLOOR
KOLKATA
Kolkata
WEST BENGAL
700017

Tel:
30259801
30259802

Now this service center provides RMA support for Seagate, AMD etc. brand ( actually the RMA dept. of 12, Lower Rowdon Street has moved here almost a year ago ) but when you go there they will Refuse to RMA any Gigabyte product though there's poster, writings on the wall ( of Ask Infotech ) that they provides RMA for Gigabyte but the truth is something else - I had to face this harrasment and when I ask them about the address of Gigabyte's service center they did not even show the decency to tell me the damn address. So I called pc accessories shop and ask them about the Gigabyte's RMA center address and they told me it's now shifted at 41, B.B. Ganguly Street.

Gigabyte ( India ) can't even keep their service center list updated - what a big Surprise ! or they just don't care.

^^ Thanks and here goes one more funny incident :

Accel ( yesterday ) asked me to call them today for my confirmation on the GA-M68M-S2P and I told them that this broad is not compatible with the cpu I've and this is also a inferior quality mobo compared to GA-MA785GM-US2H - the guy who received the call said "so what " - I told him that I won't accept the GA-M68M-S2P and the guy who received the call said they will call me when my board is ready ( in a rude voice ) and hung up the phone.

Here's the Comparison between What I had ( GA-MA785GM-US2H ) and what they are offering ( GA-M68M-S2P ) :
GIGABYTE- I found some useful information and would like to share with you

and no version of their offering ( GA-M68M-S2P ) is compatible with my cpu :
CPU-Upgrade: Gigabyte GA-M68M-S2P(rev. 1.0) processor support
CPU-Upgrade: Gigabyte GA-M68M-S2P(rev. 2.3) processor support

and people like this ( who don't have any idea about cpu compatibility ) is going to repair a mootherboard ?? what a joke ! IF they hand me over a repaired mobo ( it must have some catch ) - so if I see that the so called repaired mobo ain't working and when I return it back to them they will say that there's something physically wrong with it just to wash off their hands from the RMA :conspiracy:
so I am not going to accept any repaired motherboard from them.

Another funny thing is Accel ( 41, B.B. Ganguly St. ) no longer likes to call them as Accel instead they are now calling themselves Gigabyte Service Center though their RMA receipt, online RMA status clearly shows they are part of the Accel - Gigabyte should take a look into this - this is very confusing for end users.

and here comes the screenshots of RMA :

^^ There are 7 dedicated service centres for Gigabyte. Not sure if this is one of them but those 7 don't handle anything else other than GBT, atleast what I've been told.

That another guy in Gigabyte sent you a mail, asking for an invoice. Just send a scan and let's see how it goes from there.

^^ Right now I don't have the purchase invoice with me ( moved into new house - all the important docs are on relatives place and you know how messy it is though I will send someone to get all of my important docs asap ) ) but I can mail the scanned copy of the RMA receipt though - is not the serial no. is enough to obtain warranty support for Gigabyte products ( like Seagate ) ??

someone from Accel Frontline - 12. Rowdon Street just called ( Phone No : 09831990308 ) me at 12.50 p. m. and in a very loud voice and rude manner he has told me that

The Guy : I should learn to use how to use a motherbaord.

Me : What happened ?

The Guy : with same voice tone as previous - literally he was shouting at me ) He has found 4 burnt damages on the motherbaord and told me to collect it from 12, Rowdon Street.

Me : No way, when I submitted the motherboard for RMA at 41, B.B. Ganguly they have inspected the board and only after that accepted for RMA and it's also on their online RMA website and I have the hard copy of the RMA sheet as the prove.

The Guy : Don't teach me what to and what you have to say - say politely.

Me : When did I talk with you impolitely ?

The Guy : Same as before and telling me to talk politely.

Me : you are the one who is shouting on the phone.

The Guy : what you said ??

ME : then what should I say to you and you are not ready to listen even a single word from me.

The Guy : Ok, come here to get the board and I'll see you ( some other words with it ) - you don't know how to use a motherboard, you are telling Gigabyte about us when you have burnt the board at four places by yourself.

Me : I'll only collect it from the 41, B.B. Ganguly st. where I submitted it and when I submitted the motherboard there was no physical damage on it. I won't listen to whatever else he you have to say.

The guy hung up the phone.

The way that guy talked to me is like a bully - Now I'm feeling insulted , very sad and shocked : Gigabyte ( or Accel ) is the worst than any brand I've seen so far - they may be a big brand and no way an average person like me is going to get some extra benefits out from them or trying to defame them - I've suggested this brand ( now I even hate to pronounce the brand name ) many times in here at TDF - I've never thougt I've to face such day in my life - who has gave them the right to harass me like this ?? What was my fault - just to submit my motherbaord for RMA and contacting Gigabyte when Accel was acting dumb with the RMA.

BTW, got a reply from Gigabyte Taiwan today, not sure if Gigabyte India or Digit mag or any other else can do something about this but I'll play hard this time.

can't say for sure who is to blame Gigabyte or Accel or both of them ?? Sent the Purchase Bill copy and RMA Receipt to Gigabyte India today at 11.26 a.m. and the whole indent at 1.47 p.m. ( sent a copy to the Editor of Digit Mag as well ) but as usual Gigabyte India is playing the Ignorance game ( still no reply ) . Digit ( as a mag ) may have some limitations about directly contacting Gigabyte and I'm not blaming Digit in anyway but why Gigabyte is not responding and gone cold on this issue ??

but something is going very fishy here - first the service of center of Accel at 220/1, A.J.C BOSE ROAD refused to RMA any Gigabyte products and there is no RMA center of Accel at 12, LOWER ROWDON STREET now and the service center on 41, B.B. Ganguly Street likes to call it as Giagbyte Service Center instead of Accel though on RMA Sheet and Online RMA managemnet they use the name Accel and uses Accel's online warranty management - now a guy is insisting ofn collecting the motherboard submitted for RMA from Lower Rowdon Street and Gigabyte India on every e-mail also contacted Accel though the 41, B.B. Ganguly Street hates to call it Accel then how come my motherboard submitted for RMA has gone into 12, Lower Rowdon Street and how come they are telling me to collect it from there and Gigabyte India knows nothing about this ?? I can't believe. The situation is getting very confusing. I've lost all the trust on Gigabyte and Accel. They have started acting like a bunch of cheaters.

And on > On Tue, Aug 7, 2012 at 11:14 AM someone from Accel named MANOJ KUMAR mailed this to Gigabyte India

manoj.kumar@accelfrontline.in

Dear Sir,

We have offered him FB-GA-M68M-S2P 2.3 ( full box ) against
GA-MA785GM-US2H.
Due to non availability of actual model.

With Regards,

Manoj Kumar
Accel - Kolkata

So on 2nd Aug they have accepted the motherboard for RMA and agreed to give a new replacement on 6th August - upon refusing the replacement due to non compatibility, quality, performance and feature issue they said it will take time to repair ( 7th Aug ) and today ( 8th Aug ) they are claiming the board has physical damages - it's just their inability to repair that motherbaord and people who even don't have any idea about cpu/motherbard compatibility can even repair motherbaord ?? and it's clear that these morons of service center has damaged the motherbaord physically in attempt to repair it and now by shouting and threatening they are trying to cover up their mistakes and wants to wash out their hands from the RMA.

Guys I'm not a member of any other forum ( other than TDF ! ) but what is happening with me can happen to anyone else - so if possible just post this incident on any other forums possible - let the forum members know about this, spread this thread link. - Big companies think they can ignore the huge forum community but it's time to prove them wrong.

Now it seems Gigabyte India have interfered and that was the only reason why that man shouted on you on phone.. so stay in touch with Gigabyte India even they don't respond but keep sending them all your's and Accel's future actions and communications. don't accept anything inferior and keep reminding how long it has been to to your problem unresolved they have a deadline to finish the every query.. they can't keep it open for long. who ever contact you from customer care or so always ask his name who am I talking .. without that don't move ahead in that conversation. It is always needed to follow up or blame the person he said so.. and possible record those conversation..

May be also try threatening them to go to consumer court .. inform them both to Accel and Gigabyte India.. send mail to Gigabyte India why you are not accepting that offered MB.. and also say timer is on.. it is not resolved as in time it should..

send gigabyte a mail with all the information (attach the RMA mail...) & call them. tell them everything again, highlighting the harassing part & that you have sent a mail too.

if the RMA retard calls you again, give him a good blast, he's just some literate idiot, i bet his salary is less than the mobo itself

Remember when my mobo was sent for RMA too?
My MSI 880GMA was having problems 3 months after the purchase, so I sent it for RMA.
The first day they told me to wait couple of days, so I did the needful.
2 days later, they explained me the problem with one of the ICs and told me to wait for 2 more days.
This cycle continued for 2 weeks and I really got pi$$ed.
So I told the head of that staff to give me new one today itself or else you'll have to face consumer court.

Gigabyte has literelly no presence in India, no wonder accel is screwing up, and its easier to create burn damage to a mobo, just short circuit it themselves and voila, no more rma.

sorry to interrupt. plz answer my post... :)

Next time when he calls, do ask his name- or ask him to send him an email. If he tries that again, just hang up. You have email addresses of the guys in Gigabyte so if there's any issues just let them know. And btw, a solution is made, they (Gigabyte) will let you know.

that explains the part Asus hooked up with Digicare I guess. Digicare is now taking care of Asus since April 2012 till march 2013. Gigabyte's contract with digicare was ditched 2 years ago and that was when few folks jumped aboard with Digilite motherboard (Good Lord- enough with product, websites and service centre's name with "digi" and tech" already its too confusing to follow up >_>). Not sure if they both belong to same entity but if they are then that I guess somewhat explains the situation why Digicare's contract was not renewed.

So Digitech ( somehow connected with brand Digilite ?? ) is handling RMA of Asus then what's Rashi is doing ??

Gigabyte India ( Mr. Sankar ) just called me and they said they have arranged a DDr3 motherboard ( I've told them to send the model name to my mail id ) as replacemnet and told me collect it from Accel - still have not got it though his e-mail though

Accel ( name : Sandeep ) also called me 10 mins later and said they have repaired the mobo and told me to collect it.

Now the situation is getting a little confusing but I won't give a damn about what Accel is saying for sure !

not sure about the warranty thing but even if they provide only one year that will do for me and no Am3+ mobo for 2 years old mobo and even If have to go for AM3+ mobo I've to do the it through Accel ( paying them, no way ! ) ) which I want to avoid at all cost.

What has Accel has turned into now compared to the past. My first experience with them was back on 2008 ( segate HDD RMA ) and that was done in a week without any foul play but now Accel has dropped it's quality.

The telephonic conversation you have posted here is really disturbing. What that guy was trying to do is not only bad, but also unethical. That also means, they themselves, burnt that board to prove that you have done it and was planning to give it to you.

The most disturbing parts of this whole action(or should i say inaction) were that they first tried to give a motherboard which is not even compatible with his CPU and then when he tries to explain that they are being totally insensible(though in much polite way than i would have) they try to almost threaten him. I mean that conversation looks to me like less of a conversation and more of a threat(insensible yet again). With this much competition in PC components market they can't expect to survive if they maintain this kind of attitude. Though it's not directly gigabyte's fault but then after all the service center is kind of a representative of gigabyte for us end users. Since the incident has been reported to them I hope they take some kind of action to make sure no1 else gets harassed in this way for no apparent reason. I am really glad that gigabyte india finally interfered and helped in resolving this issue.

Can't say why Accel/Gigabyte Service Center - Kolkata has problem with giving a proper replacement - it's not that they have to spend their money for it or their some other dark story behind this but they have damaged that motherboard submitted for RMA and it's clear from their own act - 6th Aug they have offered a replacement and only when I denied to take it and GBT India comes into play they are making the story of Physical damage and threatened me over phone.

^^ I believe that .. they just don't talk properly over phone ( almost don't care type - I don't know what makes them so high ;-) ) and if you find a fault of them they will just go unreasonable.

Yep, they have just threatened me over phone and what 12 Lower ( looks like they live upto it ) Rowdon street guys have to do with a motherboard submitted on 41, B.B. Ganguly St. ?? I mean I submitted the motherboard at one place and they were threatening me to collect it from some other place ( after intentionally damaging it ) ??

It's bit surprising to see "some" people of my own state is playing the dirty game but I don't want to know the reason - I only know what those guys did they will get proper Retribution for it and this would be my Redemption !

and this is not a very good sign for GBT's own reputation and I'm also reporting every incident to GBT Taiwan about this issue and they said to give them one week time.

And Congrats the community only because I'm only a small part of it - it's not just about me getting a proper replacement but this what a community can do - community power FTW !

Problem happens with obsolete motherboards due to lack of supply, not the current gen of boards.

sent an e-mail to GBT India ( Mr. Sankar ) and he called me back within 2 mins and said that the replacement motherboard ( GA-MA785GMT-US2H ) is on the service center and told me to collect it.

So I went to the service center ( 41. B.B. Ganguly St. ) - gave them the RMA paper and they were returning me same old repaired mobo but I refused to take it and called Mr. Sankar and told him everything .. He told me to give the phone to them - so I gave the phone to the service center guy ( Tanmay ) - he went inside and met his boss and that guy came out and said this will take a little time ( now they have started acting very politely ) .. but because of load shedding , broken printer ( no RMA paper issued yesterday ) and net connection issue I got the board on 6 P. M - this is not a new board but a used one but at-least it's compatible with the cpu I've and everything ( Read Ram slots and all ) is working ( Installed it today at ~3 A.M. ) and there's no sign of any kind of physical issue - the bios is also updated to the latest version.

So Moral of the Story : The service center of Gigabyte in Kolkata is not mature enough - if you have a new or year old motherboard supporting latest DDr3 ram then you are Ok ( saying this n the basis of my ~4 Hrs. stay at the service center yesterday ) but if you do have a "obsolete" DDr2 motherboard like mine and a "powerful cpu" you better play your cards right to get a proper replacement.

Really sad to see your trouble.

Also not surprise sorrcy came here for help.He is an old player and also really helpful in other forum too.

Now coming to RMA.I guess its more to do with local handlers rather than company.WHen they come to know companies are quite liberal in solving RMA have habit of sticking old stuff and using the new for self use or sticking to peeps by asking some incentive for same.

I had similar experince with RASHI in past for ASUS where a bios fault board of 2 months exchanged with an 18 month old board whose display has encountered trouble and came for RMA.I was lucky that the rma guy forgetfully kept the screen on of his comp and i realised how they play with people. Also being in service centres i have seen them refusing every part with every silly reasons.and accepting the same if it came from shop and not taking from retail customers.

Also once they called me to collect my part and while travelling 2 hours to their place was surprsie to see that my part had never came and i was just fooled by one of their chap.

But i am really shocked with this gigabyte incident as i feel gigabyte is the most stable company providing very stable boards and product.

Indeed i have heard about accel mistreet in Mumbai regarding kingston rams which they handle.Really i guess one needs to take care now and decide product to buy after seeing who handles their service.

^^ even I've heard good things about GBT compared to Rashi and that's why went for a GBT board - but the RMA process for a 2 years old board proved to be a PITA experience rather than a good one - not sure what to recommend or what to buy - it hurts to see companies treats us like a big technology junk yard rather than providing proper service. That's why dealers/Service center guys can fool with us, tries to decline RMA claim for false reasons, lazy to get a product replaced and a company is also liable for such things to happen - they are more busy in making profits here rather than providing good after sales service to the customers and that's why no mater what happens they usually don't want to change a dealer/service provider easily. What most of the companies is ding here is pure discrimination compared to developed foreign countries and not to mention our own "weak" law system .

many may have different experience compared to me with GBT but starting from this incident I'm looking forward to see how well GBT handles RMA for old boards.

Gigabyte India has arranged for this "Old" replacement motherboard - what did you expect ?? That Gigabyte will do something extra ordinary if they get a complaint about one of their service center ?? The reality is showing something different.

i tyell you man...unless they start going to consumer Courts they will continue to do this.....

I know sitting in of the front monitor and typing and calling won't matter much but Consumer court - is it really effective .. I know a case of Fridge and a electronics shop ( who sold it ) has lost in Consumer Court though it took nearly 1 year to get the justice and when the court ordered for a Rs. 10k compensation ( the price of the fridge only and what about the court expenses the customers had to pay and the long waiting and harassment ? ) - The shop and fridge company simply ignored court order - so the only option left for the customer to go to the Civil court and god only knows how long it would take and how much money will be spent more on this not to mention the time - so what happened next ? nothing.

That's the Indian way of doing business - Cheat/screw/manipulate/harass the customer. Even a top company's name is ruined because of their unprofessionalism.

^^ yep, that's the way things happen here - be it a private or government organization/company and talking about ToP company with such port after sales service - looks like they have the worst mindset of all. If you know a few people on higher management or the service center people are god then it's OK or else how will you get proper after sales service no one knows.

BTW, Thanks.

Not really, things would be faster for enforcing a verdict and process is different than you say, court will enforce the verdict in these cases.

Personal exp, I have fought and won two cases in consumer court.. Both of them were fought without any lawyer (but with help from a lawyer friend).. Yes it took one and a half year, yes compensation was not upto the mark as expected but relief was good and unless more and more people takes this main and makes this a mainstream practice, things wont go better by them self with just pushing emails dont you think ??

Its all about profit and loss for them, unless they find series of law suit nothing will change. Yes one more way is boycotting them, but when people are reluctant for turning to court, how many can we reach to effect their sales chart by our own ??

Culture needs to be little more towards fighting attitude, paying visits to court, first few years are difficult but when this becomes mainstream, neta's too will have to notice to save their vote bank and get things happening in court too by diverting gov efforts there.
