Need a general purpose laptop. Irrespective of config would you suggest me a gloss screen or matte one? Most of the present models seems to have the former one.

^gloss looks better than matte...bcoz of shining feature.

but I will prefer Matte as in gloss fingerprints are visible & also reflects light

I think gloss are cheaper to make than matte. Gloss are also terrible for outdoor.

I absolutely hate glossy displays. You need a relatively dark environment to use it or else the gloss will reflect the light. A real pain in the *** when you have a window or light source behind you while working.

Most people like gloss. I too, but owning one makes you feel, when at some point of time, reflectiveness is too much. You actually have to set your eye-view to have a proper view of screen which is at times very irritating. But I'm yet to see any matte screen. :|

Most brands Business line up offer Matte screen. Except one thing i don't understand is Truebit technology, provided by Toshiba, which they is a fusion of both..@!!

But one thing for sure, glossy only attracts, but not productive.
