On 27 June 2012 at Google I/O, Google announced the next Android version, 4.1 Jelly Bean. The main focus of the update is in improving the user interface, both in functionality and performance, the latter called project "butter" which uses triple buffering and a fixed frame rate of 60 fps to create a fluid and "buttery" smooth UI.

I think Project Butter and offline dictation are the major plus points ...

The first android phones to get it are the Nexus 7 and Nexus Q.

It has many features -
1. Project Butter
2. Keyboard and voice input
3. Camera
4. Availability
5. Notifications bar
6. Google Search

as per reditt comments, Butter is actually pure butter and UX has improved a lot over ICS.

the UI has become more smooth and the transitions are faster as compared to ICS...
