Fake.

Every e-mail site says (during signup) that it will never ask your password or any other detail.

Fake fake fake u can see that
mailed by jagua.com.br why would google use other service to inform its users.
And about database updating they can do it without any accounts deleted.
They had already did many upgrades to their database and server without giving any problem to its users.

DO NOT REPLY TO THAT MAIL.

Do you really think google can't do all that without asking your password? Think about it.

^^ All you have to do is set up a MTA and then use PHP scripts for some ease.

Its fake.
Trying to find out why you got this, the reason could be someone you know or most probably who knows you want to have a look in your mails box your sent mails and received mails. So is asking you for your email and password indirectly.
So now its time for you to figure out who it could be. Also recently have u been asked by google to enter captcha code to log in to your mail box. If yes then its an alarm for you.
