Hi all...My graphics card 8600gt is now showing signs of ageing (BTW, colors on the monitor samsung 2033sw lcd, getting sort of smudged especially where there is proper contrast is a gfx card issue right???) ...Hence I need ur help to buy a new GFX Card...My config consists of - AMD Phenom II 920...4gb ddr2 ram...Gigabyte GA-MA78GM...VIP Pure 500W SMPS....Samsung LCD 2033SW...Now I am a little tight on budget which is not more than 7-8k..My primary usage is 3d modelling & rendering & gaming...Now the main thing is that my PC doesnt have any AC environment, so "HEAT" is a major issue which the GFX card shud deal with properly...Thats all...Pls advise at ur earliest convenience...Thanks

Select between these

GTS250 - fastest one
HD5670 - future proof because of DX 11 and SM 5.0
9800GT - not a good option
HD4770 - Lies between the GTS 250 and HD 5670
HD4850 - another gr8 card

I suggest to get HD5670 good for rendering and for games, and also your power supply will be suitable for it.

you may instead search for HD5750 512Mb. it should cost below 7k & is a very good card.... search it & get it.

GTS250 is my pick. Its a gr8 card and I'm also going to buy it. But u need a good PSU for that having 80+ efficiency like Tagan 500W @ 3k or Corsair VX450 @ 3.8k.

GTS250 1GB is for 7.3k @ PrimeABGB, Lamington Road, Mumbai. I just phoned and asked them.

Hey Varad...U r right..I also called them & confirmed...And they also have the Sapphire ATI 5750 1gb priced at 7.9k...But do i have 2 upgrade my existing SMPS, i.e VIP 500W for the GTS250, cuz i also have 2 HDDs (seagate 500gb & WD 250gb sharing the power alongwith my above mentioned specs...Also, how do i find out whether my PSU has that 80+ efficiency???

GTS250 Rocks.

There will be a chart on the side of your PSU. On that chart just check the current on 12V rail. It is given in Ampere (A).

If the current is more than 30A, u can run u r card easily on your current PSU.

It says you have 18A on your 12V rail. Better get another PSU. (Corsair VX450, or Tagan500W)

Hey Sam & what about the power requirements of this card...???

your PSU will suffix for HD5750 512Mb. only problem is availability. if you get GTS 250 you will end up getting a better PSU also. so total damage: 5.8k + 2.8k( GTS250 512Mb + seasonic 380W)= 8.6k or maybe more depending on your purchase.

HD5770 + VX450W. or Seasonic 430W will be great.
