harddisk is not booting.if i try ubuntu it shows this error:

DBus error org.gtk.Private.RemoteVolumeMonitor.Failed: An operation is already pending.

if i use gparted to check the partition for errors it shows the following:

GParted 0.7.0 --enable-libparted-dmraid

Libparted 2.3
Check and repair file system (ext4) on /dev/sdd4 00:00:00 ( ERROR )

calibrate /dev/sdd4 00:00:00 ( ERROR )
libparted messages ( INFO )

Could not stat device /dev/sdd - No such file or directory.

========================================
Check and repair file system (ntfs) on /dev/sdd3

========================================

windows does not detect the harddisk.

any suggestions??

^^ yep, you're right - if bios can't detect a HDD in a particular rig no OS in the world can detect the HDD on the same system - so he better use some system diag tools first.
