[HELP] confused with budget from 17k to 27k

guys i have a bb curve 9300 and an iPhone 3gs 32 GB.. a friend of mine is offering me 9.5k for bb and 18k for iPhone.. shall i sell them? if yes, then i plan to purchase a new smartphone.
i am confused between the plethora of android devices. now i ain't an android fanboy, but the galaxy nexus caught my eye.. its retailing on ebay for 25-26k with sellers warranty.
also can i get an iPhone from us under 27k..

(i can unlock it as in my city a dealer sells gevey sim..)
how is the galaxy nexus? i love iOS devices but i don't get the point of buying them at ridiculous prices in india.

The price you are getting for your phones are pretty good.
And the Nexus which is available on ebay is not with manufacturer warranty and I think there are better options available than that.
For under 17k One V is a very good option and even Neo V can be considered in that budget.You can even have a look at Sensation for 22k
But as you don't have any problem with the budget I suggest you to get Galaxy Note for ~29.5k or can increase your budget a lil more and can get the beast i.e. One X for 33-34k

And iphone 4S 16GB factory unlocked will cost you around 35k as Dollar is at its peak these days i.e. around 55Rs and iphone 4 16GB will cost you around 25-27k

Sensation will be very good for 2-2.5yrs can't say how further it will work good as that depends on how you use and maintain it.

XE is old. but main problem with HTC is their battery. Sensation as a whole (build + performance) will make it till 2015. but the battery will go down in a year or so. The backup is already bad. Think what will happen after a year or so. If HTC sell extended battery then you can safely buy. This is the same problem i faced with my Motorola ROKR E6. now its a working mobile with dead battery

SAM you own a E6, man I loved that phone(but its a story of long time back), I bought it around 5 years back but later was stolen around 1-1.5yrs and I really missed it. I never had issues with the battery while I using it but performance of every electronic gadget decreases with time and we all know that.
And every company do sell extra batteries bro.
And about battery issue of Sensation I would like to say

yes,there have been issues with battery but you can neglect that it has got a 4.3" screen and a dual core processor which consumes a lot of battery so that is the reason. But it lasts for around a day easily, and also remember one thing you can't get everything in everything.

XE is an amazing phone but it costs around 31k, in that budget its better you go for One X which costs around 33-34k which is the best phone in the market right now.

i used it as a modem a bit too much. killed the battery that way

it was my first smartphone and did everything inc testing custom rom, overclocking, etc. now battery is dead and screen is a bit too messed up and doesn't respond well. so can't use it.

wait for S3 to be available. One X should get its price lowered further. But looking at the specs + features of One X, 32k is fair pricing but just wait. There should be a pricecut soon.

No removable battery and I think no microSD card slot in the One X. The screen and Sense is good though.

Listen there nothing which beats One X in the market, and its much better than XE.
You can get it around 33-34k easily.
iphone has got a small screen also as compared to One X.

note is too big for my liking..

If you found that S3 screen was amazing then what would you say for One X screen as One X screen is superior than S3.
Xperia S is also good.I think you can get it for around 28k after bargaining.
And as we know the next generation iphone will be there in a 2-3 months so 4S prices will decrease, and if you are comfortable with all the cons of iOS then get it.

I am using iPhone 4 16GB Model for the past 8 Months , I never faced a single issue....

My brother is using Samsung Galaxy R & honestly speaking after using an iOS other OS phones sux......

as you have used iOS previously I would recommend to go 4S...... Android fones are a big waste.....horrible battery backup ...

+1 buddy.. my 3gs has been in use since it was launched.. never had even to go the service center.. more than 3 years and still works like a charm...
but a bad news.. that guy backed off.. he aint selling it anymore....

now confused between one x and sgs3...

The HTC One S that will be launched in India is the inferior version with the S3 processor overclocked to 1.7Ghz along with the Adreno 220 GPU instead of the advanced and more power efficient Krait S4 processor with Adreno 225 GPU. The processor is the same as on the Sensation XE and has been overclocked by 200 MHz.The Sensation already has pathetic battery life. Are you okay with buying online ? You can get Xperia S for 27.5k from buytheprice.

Sensation XE has poor performance, bad screen and average camera. Even phones like Sola have better screen than XE.

Also i9100 IS available.

Well you could go for it man but compared to Galaxy S2 and Xperia S, its just not a good phone. Very poor optimization on that phone and just 768mb RAM.
Also Xperia S is 27.5k @buytheprice. Just try ordering. Use coupon ICICI and pay with ICICI debit/credit/bank account.

Or else try Ngpay. Its 27900 there.

EDIT: I read you wrote you are getting Sensation XE for 28k. Well both S2 and Xperia S are cheaper than that. Xperia S is 27600/27900. And Galaxy S2 is 25.5-26k

XE is a very good phone, don't listen to people who are saying it is not good, specially the beats earphones which come with it are amazing.It is far better than S2.And for 28k its a steal man as everywhere it is available for 31k+
And even Xperia S is a great phone.
S2 is inferior to both Xperia S and XE
But considering that One X is available at ngpay for 32.5k only, it is a very good deal and it is much-much better than XE and S2 and also Xperia S.

yeah mate.. i was promised an iPhone on selection in a good institute.. but the guy bringing it from us got his trip cancelled... so my dad told me to find a phone under 25k.. i saw the one x and was ecstatic..

but now i am confused between s2, xe and one x.. but buying one x over 30k is a problem..
love the design and earphones of the xe..
s2 is a great phone but is aging...

The camera is poor. 8 megapixels but performance is similar to what you find in 15-18k 2012 phones with 5 mp.

And on top of these, the various software issues and bugs.

Well I don't go on benchmarks, and the screen is not bad at all.
The camera is also good, not bad at all.
And the beats earphones are pretty good, have you tried it? I guess no.
You can find earphones like them even for 1.5k to 2k.
And there are also not that much issues that will bother anyone.
For more I think you should get hands on the device.

Have YOU tried the beats earphones ? I certainly have !.If you have, then I suggest you listen to the earphones bundled with Xperia P and compare both. And FYI the latest batch of Sensation XE don't come with beats earphones bundled.
And benchmarks don't mean anything ? They certainly do. The Xperia S has the same Cpu that Sensation XE has with 0 difference and yet the Xperia S scores way higher than Sensation XE on every benchmark with HD resolution compared to qHD of the Sensation XE.

4500 on Antutu vs 6500 is a HUGE difference.
So is 2200 on Quadrant vs 3200 on Quadrant.

When the Xperia S can score much higher than 15k Xperia U, and the XE can't with the very same CPU it only shows how badly optimized the phone is.

I didn't say the benchmarks don't mean anything, I said that I don't go on benchmarks, I personally use the phone and compare it with other phones and then decide.
And if someone is into rooting then XE will perform very good.
And also look wise Sensation XE is very good.
Xperia S quite a new phone and its the best phone by Sony right now, I know Xperia S is better than XE.
And I guess you have tried some OEM/fake beats earphones that is the reason you are saying so, because they are pretty good.

There is nothing NEW about the Xperia S SoC, its the same chipset as sensation XE. So you can't say its better because its new. That argument doesn't hold true. Also the AT&T Galaxy S2 also launched around the same time as the Sensation XE and also has same chipset as XE, performs almost as good as Xperia S. How ???

I thinks its in fact older than Sensation XE. Yup it came out in June 2011 !!

Also I didn't try no fake beats

As I said, if you get a chance try the earphones bundled with Xperia P and compare them with the "super duper fantastic" beats earphones.

Well if not 3, should be in 4 or max 5 months. But anyway the value of your phone would go down considerably once Iphone 5 launches.

I mean 39k is a LOT of money! If I were you, I wouldn't pay that much for a phone that will become outdated in 3 months and be overshadowed by a new better phone.

I would either

1) Wait for Iphone 5 and buy that
2) Once Iphone 5 launches buy the IP4s @ a lower price
3) Buy a not so expensive Android for now and wait for IP5/ other H2 2012 flagships

39k is good deal yes but since Iphone5 is launching by september he would be better off waiting as then prices of Iphone 4s would go down and resale value would also be much less.

My dad has also used my 3GS and is impressed by its simplicity yet perfectionist approach. I am comfortable with apples closed system policy... Shall I use my 3GS for the next 4 months?iphone 5, if rumours have it will be priced nearly 55k..

4s is a fantastic phone.
I had a gs2 for a year,bought a gs3 a week back...got disgusted with it in 3/4 days..gave it to wife..bought a 4s and loving it(I use a Mac@work,and the whole work flow is finally optimized)

I bought the 4s for 32k,FU in a sealed box but without Indian warranty.
I am sure you can find one even cheaper here,if you do not care about the official warranty.
BTW Why care about official warranty?
You yourself can sort out SW issues.
Non mechanical hardware failure is pretty rare.

I still can see some very nice deals on 4s in ebay.in.
One seller is selling for 34.5k,get hold of some coupon,it will bring down even more or talk to the seller over phone and try to strike a deal outside ebay so that he does not have to pay ebay fees.

Most ebay sellers give 2 transparent scratch guard for both the screen and the back.
Buy a bumper case for Rs.150-200.Your phone is safe.

DO NOT EVER apply a hard snap on case on 4/4s...it will scratch the back,sides for sure.
Do not spend on those overpriced Capdase/Casemate cases.
What do you mean by normal charger?
It comes with a usb cable and a two pin plug(which attaches to the cable)
Just buy a converter which makes it a Indian 2 pin plug(max.cost about 50 bucks)
BTW,why you guys are apprehensive of Palika Bazar?
Just make sure the seal is intact,take along your laptop with itunes installed.
The first time you connect your phone to itunes,itunes will say something like...congrats!your iphone is unlocked.
Basically thats it!
I guess most of us here will be able to distinguish a fake one simply looking at the pack or holding the phone for 5 seconds.
Only the factory unlocked thing can be confusing,but once you connect to the itunes,it will tell you for sure.
Sometimes even in a FU phone,Indian SIM does not work straight away,you may need to manually search for the network of your provider(Strangely all the white iphones I have seen,had this problem)
But once you find your network,automatic search will work(even for other provider SIMs)

In Palika Bazar they don't only sell fake iphones, they will hand over you refurbished or some defective piece.
I just wanna stay away from Pallika Bazar.

itz easy 2 say get it frm palika but not practical wen lot of risk is involved....n takin laptop n use in that chaos is hard...probab if itz fake they wont let u check via laptop

I have never been to Palika,did not know it was that bad.
BTW getting hold of refurb iphone even in US is pretty difficult now.

Actually bought almost 2 weeks ago.
Locally for 32k.
Will try to put up few snaps of the entire Mac and iOS family once I get back home after another long ourdoor.

5 is not going to come soon,if you have no issues with 3.5 inch screen,go ahead and buy it!
Trust me,it is just wonderful!Never stutters even for a second,stable as a rock and most importantly after a very very long time I am not looking at the battery meter after every call,txt,mail.
Battery life in 5.1.1 is just fantastic(if you end up buying a 4s,just drop a pm if the battery is not behaving nicely)
My GS2 was a joke compared to this beauty!

The best thing I find in iO.S is the almost absolute idiot proof nature of the o.s.
I have spent 4/5 years with Android and still not fully comfortable with it(specially those efs and voltage control scripts)
Spent hours @xda discussing kernel development with geniuses like Leomar and gokhan via thousands of pm.
Even with available source codes from Samsung,these guys are also clueless after certain point,still people have a notion that Android is easy!(may be it is easy to just flash a kernel or ROM or a initd script,but that has absolutely got nothing to do with the complexity of Android)
Apple has not or never will give us the source codes,but the absolutely awesome dev teams have managed to RE the entire damn thing so nicely with each JB that even a non technical person like me can see what is actually happening to your device once jailbroken.
Now back to the topic,

I suggest you to buy One X.
But if you something smooth and a hassle free phone but with some limitations and small screen then get iphone

After jailbreaking,those limitations wont be there.
But for me the biggest plus is the battery life.
When the 4s came first,the battery life was just like any Android (in fact GS2 lasted longer than the 4s of my boss)
Now with 5.1.1 the battery life is just awesome,I can easily get 7/8 hrs of screen time(just double of the gs2!!)with 3G.
