Hi all!

(First off I have no idea whether I'll get flamed for opening a new thread just for the purpose

but.. let it be

I need your help fellas..I really want to buy a brand new, box pack, Sealed LG Optimus 2X at lowest possible price here in New Delhi/Noida but I am not able to find one.

If anyone having any contacts who can get me this model I am ready to meetup and strike a deal

Note: I have been seeing ads and got msgs to buy an old piece but srry i am not interested to get an old one..not this time.

You're out of luck. Seems to be out of stock in most sites: Flipkart, Letsbuy, Adexmart... Ebay has some, but the cheap ones are used, and new ones are priced at 28k.

Found one at Saholic, but priced at 25.6k: [saholic.com].

Unless you manage to get it somehow for under 20k, its not at all worth it IMO.

Does it have to be the 2X? Its rather old, and past its prime. Can't you wait for better deals?

- the hardware which I'll get on this beauty is absolutely gr8
+ the excellent build quality, gorilla glas, steel rim along the body; really solidly built

- good XDA dev. support

installing custom roms should be a breeze

@ just ~20k its the best deal IMO (i can increase a bit to say 22-23k but not more than that for a cellphone

)

Talking abt the coming alternatives:

first i had considered Xperia U (and thought of Xperia P too) but then I googled a lot..tried to collect info from reviews, users thoughts on how a limited internal memory (no SD card slot) can really affect you (Xperia U has just 4GB for songs n stuff, 2GB for apps etc.; similarly Xperia P has 16GB total out of which idk how much is user accessible) + i would in future want to try custom roms, also its easy to backup your stuff to a micro SD separately (its safe

)

even though xperia U /P may have the brightest displays at their respective price point but then again I can't simply go for a phone having no sd card slot after paying 18-25k (for xperia U / P)

badly need to get my hands on a droid

last stop should be LG showroom. if they don't have it, don't run after a year old mobile. there will be better alternates. And all companies other than LG cook stable Android build that you won't be required to try custom rom unless there is space problem. Else wait for Sensation's price to come down a bit more. at 20k, it'll offer more value than O2X. At least you don't have to look for custom roms for another year.

- sensation has some issues (death grip etc.)

- its actually actually not abt that they are hardly noticeable or anything like it..an issue is an issue.. can't take chances..especially when..if it is hardware

- i won't be running for custom roms etc. just for the sake of design/usability/animation effects but its abt removing bloatware and do things the way you want to do it

keeping it simple

- if i am able to get my hands on O2X only and only at an LG shoppe/regional stockist then hes gonna suk me in

(will demand phone on MRP or near abt it which is approx 26-27k *gulp*

- i seriously liked what O2X offered me..infact to everyone else who *can/is* confident abt rooting, installing their custom ROM or upgrade to Gingerbread and wait for LG to release ICS (as promised in Q2 2012

Sensation (all HTC, Sony & Motorola have this) has locked bootloader. I don't know if it is easy to unlock or you have to play with some of the DEV tools. Was planning to try this on my friend's Sony. But damn guy is way too paranoid about unlocking.

don't underestimate LG. Others miss their update plan by a month or two, LG miss it at least by a quarter or more. don't expect official ICS before Q3. may touch Q4 who knows. And when they deliver, it'll be buggy like hell.

Thankfully, bootloader is not locked. One of the first mobiles to get stable cyanogen builds (Proud to own an LG mobile :grin:

In the detailed SGS2 review Anandtech talks about Maali-400MP4- The 4 core version being equivalent to PowerVR SGX 543. on a side note, my hopes are pinned on Exynos GPU on SGS3 to challenge SGX 543MP4 after looking at performance of GPUs in Tegra 3 & Krait against A5. Tegra 3 & Kraits Adreno 225 are unable to match the benchmark figures of SGX 540MP2 according to anandtech. :cry:

well AFAIK the proc on Xperia lineup is ST U8500 NovaThor which is an SoC containing the DB8500 GPU.

Now, have a look at ST8500 specs here

Xperia S , the present flagship has Adreno 220 which is better than SGX540 and Tegra 2. So definitely Mali 400 with U & P won't be better than Adreno 220. My guess is it wud be rougle comparable to SGX 540 & Tegra 2.

Today I went to savitri market(the biggest retail market for mobile phones in Noida)..tried an exactly real looking dummy of Xperia S..

it totally felt like a piece of block..

felt pretty solid (thanks to the solid plastic built of the phone)..was looking durable but i am not really sure how much of strain that plastic could handle.

and I guess i should stick to LG O2X

(if Xperia S the flagship is like that then no doubt a lower quality build would be observed in Xperia Sola

no use... class4 2gb retails for about 150 and 8gb for 300rs.. i said for if you can get 16gb for like atmost 100rs more...

I have rooted my O2X, currentlly running CM7. Performance is certainly boosted up, no UI hang, no crapware. Seriously good phone if you are open to rooting. Price is also much lesser than S2, which I believe has always been overpriced.

Edit: I have got Transcend MicroSD Card 32GB Class 10; got it from Letsbuy for Rs. 2099

umm..I need to know a thing about upgrading the factory installed froyo to gingerbread released by LG.

I heard that after updatation to gingerbread there is a loss of some apps??
WIll I lose fsecure or any other important app?? I also read that there can be some lockups while updatation process is going on thereby bricking the phone?

LG's GB release is stupid. IMO LG's Froyo is much more stable than GB. Plus it is (GB) battery hungry, drains out battery within a day, with moderate usage. I can't tell you about apps getting lost and all, but upgrading was mostly smooth for me.

I had actually rooted LG Froyo to CM7. Then went back to LG Froyo and then updated to LG GB. Then went back to cm7 \m/ :mrgreen:

P.S. - The "Black Screen of Death" is still there, whichever OS you use. But yes, its much less frequent.

give it to LG service center. they'll do it. why take unnecessary risk. and most likely all installed apps (internal memory, external storage) will be lost.

it was there in CM7. was resolved in CM7.1 and CM7.2 is also lot stable. hardly any bugs. not sure if the same was resolved in case of O2X. but i feel it is gone now. Anyway who runs after CM7. We have CM9 now.

after so much for searching..market hunting.. just came back from Gaffar market/karol bagh (new delhi) guys there telling O2X is out of stock should be back by tuesday (atleast 1of the two told me) both of them asking for 20.5k :O but its actually not their fault..taxes got increased too :/ with the budget :/..

Wondering now..that Tegra2 is prety old and hard to find an O2X..PLUS even if i get to find one for 20.5k (last price) then should I really get it??

better go with htc at that price point or moto atrix 2.. htc got lots of phone now around 20k and they are really good... if you wanna save money then you can also go with sony neo V..

well..i want a phone with excellent build quality (liked O2X for this

), good camera, gaming power, nice customization options (moto has locked down bootloader but will get official ICS update; O2X will also get official ICS update and custom roms are already available)

, smooth net browsing..no lags or things, good sound/speakers, oh yeah.. good battery backup too

not to mention i find O2X's screen quality a lot better (IPS LCD the same as on iphone 4) and moto's screen's colors looks washed out or something

if you can find O2X at 20k go for it. as simple as that. Sensation has a higher resolution display but a S-LCD screen whereas LG uses NOVA display (i doubt it'll make any difference other than draining battery like hell as its worlds bright display).

but check one thing: custom rom fixes LG O2X battery drain. this is O2X's main weakness with stock rom. moreover LG has far better service (or no of service center) than Motorola or HTC.

Motorola atrix 2 has a bigger screen. high res, the TI OMAP 4430 chipset with the SGX340 GPU, 1GB RAM and rest specs are quite similar to 2x except for the build quality..

I tried a dummy of atrix 2 and trust me..its looking cheap :/ not good build quality even though it will come at a bit expensive price tag if an o2x is available

(O2X @ rs20.5k fix deal with a shopwalla@gaffar

One question comes to my mind. Are you looking for the specs of the phone or it's usability? You are spending around 20K (a high end price) for a phone that looks cheap crap but just because of that 1 GHz proc and 1GB ram, you're going for it. Doesn't make any sense for me atleast. Are you upto android development? If yes, it's reasonable for you to look for specifications, but if not, then you are looking for wrong device.

I would suggest you go for LG Optimus 2x/Black or Sony Ericsson Neo V for 17k. Or increase the budget and go for HTC Sensation 24k. I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S2 for 25,200 INR for my sister, see the local pricings of these phones. Decide on usability, looks, screen size first, then go technical. That's how I shop.

hmm...true (even since the 1st day I have been looking forward for the best build quality. atleast durability matters for a phone worth above 10-15k

btw the atrix 2 has also got a bigger battery 1785mah!

I have a Nokia 1600 right now, my old Nokia 5800XM was lost last year, and I didn't buy any phone even after my dad was begging me to buy one. Now, I am going to college this year, and will buy a new one after 1.5 year of wait! I am too, waiting for S3 price and specs and most probably will go for S2

samsung gives unlocked bootloader on all mobiles. ace is actually pretty expensive for the features it provide...

i think you should better go to a mobile shop and gets hands on otherwise you will just keep finding some other mobile on internet and you will be confused a lot...

I am talking about "Ace 2" it isn't released yet.. and according to GSMArena it should be a economical phone arnd 12-15k (guessing).

by the time ace 2 is launched we'll have Sony mobiles with better specs. it has to be priced same as Neo V or HTC One V to make sense. On the other hand the looks has gone from bad to worse. This is the 100th samsung mobile that looks the same.

remember S2's launch? S got a huge pricecut overnight (~28 to 22k). HTC Sensation was given a 6-7k pricecut overnight. So S2 will sell for 23-24k soon. but once S3 is available or once HTC lowers price of One S or One X. Till then be happy with whatever S2 is priced at.

Ok now, guys i just made a decision (an IMP one for me)..

I have not ordered.. but I have thought to order a HTC Desire S and I DO need your advice here now; (tonight or maybe before tomm. morning) Why? because of these:

- Samsung's Galaxy Ace 2 won't be released before Q3, 2012 which means not before July?! :cry:

(have already been suffering without a phone; )

- considering the current available price of Ace 2 in European market @ 280-290 Euros which comes about 20k INR; simply tagged it as expensive for a sammy

- plastic build of Ace 2 :/

- Mali 400MP as according to Sam maybe underclocked etc. YES exactly BUT not only this also this same GPU is available in 2configurations across market having a Mali-400MP (having 1core) & a Mali-400MP (having 4cores) is the difference.

HTC Desire S has the adreno 205 (is it a really lower end GPU ?; online reviews show it as fine; even the SE Xperia Neo V has the same Proc+GPU specs

)

- likes of Sony xperia U/P are having the Mali 400MP (single core) in them (inside the DB8500 board package) as per my sources. otherwise why would the xperia U come so cheap at its MRP of 19,990(set by Sony mobile comms., India pvt. ltd) ?

- already has developer support/custom roms are breeze; CM possible; bootloader unlocking as easy as 1-2-3 (not really but yeah..

)

- official ICS too will roll out soon

- am getting HTC Desire S for 16k with 1yr manufaturer's warranty :-D

If we check the prices online then the price difference in Desire S and Incredible S is of only 1k, and Incredible S is better than Desire S as it has got a better camera, a bigger screen and a difference of 1k is nothing for that I think, So one must for Incredible S.
About One V I can only say one thing, its a new phone, if you have to compare between Incredible S in terms of specs with one V then Incredible S wins but as its a new handset HTC might have worked with some cons in their previous handsets and have come out with something good.
And Even Neo V is a very good phone, just the build quality is ok, not good not bad

i found the diff. @2.5k (for saholic) and more (for others)(with 1 yr manufacturer warranty; for online stores)

+ Incredible S's back design looks a bit ugly to me.. :/ looks as if I will be holding onto a inverted desktop hard drive casing

Moreover, the processor and the GPU is same as the HTC Desire S..so I am not really thinking to spend more for a phone to just have a slightly bigger display (though it looks the same i.e. SLCD) and a better 8MP cam instead of 5MP of desire s.
What are your thoughts..?

andreno 205 is a powerful gpu for normal usage, almost all the mobile below 20k with qualcomm chipset uses adreno 205 only...
