What's the problem with CF? Issues such as scaling, tearing etc are been resolved in new drivers. Besides, 7950 CF > single 7970 and is also more future proof. If budget is the problem, then you can also go for 7870 CF of 660 CF.

no man CF are never future proof options .... lets take that if u have a single powerful card let it be a 7970 ok ....and your friend is having a 7950 in CF and yes 7950 cf > single 7970 so at that time your friend is getting benifit of few frames but as future proofing is concerned ..... to beat your friend u add one more 7970 card and CF it after a year and now ur friend has no option to inscrease performance my grafix so as future proofing is concerned a single powerful card are the only way to go ..... :p

^ it will help to run games at better settings for a longer time span as compared to a single card. 7950cf >> single 7970. And it's coming in budget too. Still, if you want a single card solution, then get a 7970 with the biggest vram possible.

^^ Depends on your definition of future proofing. If you mean 6-7 years then definitely not but 2-3 years then YES.
