Help Usb Hd Not Accessible!!!!!!

I am using an IBM travelstar 40 GB USB HD. The windows is not allowing me to copy, paste, delete or open any file or folder in th USB HD. I do not want to format the HD since it contains data whick i have not backed up.

Please help me!!!!!!!.
