I've found a news on 91 mobiles that Honor 8X and 8X Max officially launching on Sep 5th in China, but there is no information here.
Honor revealed this piece of information on Weibo — China’s micro-blogging website.
*hub.91mobiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Honor-8X-Launch-date.jpg
It said the Honor 8X Max was recently spotted on TENAA with model number ARE-AL00. The listing revealed that the alleged handset would feature a tall 7.12-inch Full HD+ display with a small cut-out up top just like the OPPO F9’s Waterdrop notch.

Generally, Honor X-Series products always launch with budget price, their selling point is cost effective, however the phones with waterdrop notch on the market like Oppo R17, the price is around 35k.

So I quite wonder this news is true or not, anybody have the rumor or news about Honor 8X's specs? Just curious.

I hope the base 8X variant is priced at 12k or so with 6.2" display or so. 8X Max seems to be a competitor of Mi Max series. Let's see with what specs they launch it.

Drop all forms of notch and emui too. Give users control over their phones. Let everyone unlock bootloaders and flash custom roms. You are not Huawei. You should adapt Android One for all phones. Even though Oneplus' parent company was Oppo, they decided to have clean, close to stock android.

HMD global revived Nokia and they are using Android One.

They are also launching a phone with a motorized motor just like the find x. Notches are going away.

if Nokia makes a AMOLED phone with atleast SD 710 + good camera with OIS for 25k, then thats going to impact a lot.

I would say for people who aren't into selfies much, the Vivo Nex S type front cam is a better option. Oppo Find X type motorized units aren't good, apparently Huawei Magic 2 one is similar.

Hope that successor of 7 Plus has those. SD 710 can be expected but I'm not sure if we would see OIS. I personally feel Nokia 7 Plus is a good device at 25k for people who want a branded phone (not Chinese ones). Samsung ones are shit at that price point.

Probably between variants of Honor 9N and Honor Play, just like Mi A2 is between RN5 Pro and F1.
PS: Mi A2 makes sense just for Android One. 8x won't have that.

Motorized back camera is totally unnecessary and they could've simply put front camera on the bottom bezel like Mi Mix series.

They might get specs right but they won't price it under 25k. 7+ was launched at 28k IIRC.

Every other Samsung phone except S and Note series is a POS. They lack basic sensors for unknown reasons.

Lack of headphone jack vs EMUI, I'd rather ditch both and get Pro M1 or RN5 Pro (for custom roms)

I'd rather wait and see it actually implemented rather than discuss about the speculations. Behind the screen camera would be a big deal if done properly.

Only Samsung can pull that off.

What is point in asking for suggestions from a big tech community like digit if you want to make phones your way?

I don't think that would happen. At best even smaller bottom bezel & in display fingerprint scanner, but I doubt Samsung would cut bottom bezel as they keep their phones symmetric & there is no room to cut the top bezel.

I would say in display fingerprint sensor on the body of S9 with higher capacity battery & dual cams would make it a great phone.

Let's see. But dual front and triple rear cameras will be there on the high end variant of S10.

The Huawei Honor 8X is a mid-range smartphone which ships with dual rear cameras, a waterdrop-like notch and a big battery. The successor to the Honor 7X also sports a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The device is capped with curved edges on all sides making it easy to hold.

I'm just hoping 8X has "smaller" 6" display. I don't want to see people carrying around a tablet.

The day has finally come: according to Honor, Honor will launch two products, 8X & 8xmax, which are different from 7X ,the bigger one will support 7.12-inch full-HD+ (1080x2244 pixels) TFT display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio,Screen To Body Ratio may up to 90%.
We don't need a weird aspect ratio to support a stupid notch. Also, TFT screen? We are not living in 2008. We asked for an AMOLED screen or even a good IPS one.

True, it is a good device. The small notch like 8X Max would have been better though but at least size of the notch is getting smaller.

If the 4GB/64GB model is priced at 15k, it would be a great competitor to Redmi Note 5 Pro. Kirin 710 is better than S636 & the camera should be similar, if not at least close to RN5P.

They should've used a metal back and cut unnecessary cost of making another colorful but fragile glass back.
Also, what is with that weird aspect ratio and under 4k mAh battery? A phone this tall would easily accommodate a 5k mAh battery.

Blame the people. Most people consider glass back to be premium (and Apple isn't to be blamed here). Metal is slippery but at least it doesn't break.

If it's launched at 15k, it would still be a good choice. With the popularity of PUBG, they might be able to gain the upper hand over RN5P & Asus due to Kirin 710. Still, at least they made something competitive, if not better in all aspects.

I had a LG E970 (which has glass back) and I was scared to use it without a case back in 2014. I didn't even unbox it till I got a case. Heck, I still use my OP3 with a spigen case for better grip.

Metal or glass but a case is must. Not upgrading the op yet?

Kind of true nowadays. I did use my old S2 without a case but it had a plastic back which had sufficient grip. Even my old Nexus 4 had decent grip due to rubberized sides, but its glass back was still vulnerable.

Leave the back, what if the phone fell on the ground with the front side talking the impact? Because of this reason a case is a must.

Don't really have the need to "upgrade" yet.
OP6 has glass back, Poco F1 has IPS screen and MIUI, 6T will be overpriced and all these have some notch!

But that isn't common. The dynamics of the phone makes it so that it tries to hit at the edges (at least for flagships). You have to drop it perfectly flat for it to hit the screen completely. Moreover, people don't drop their phone in that position, usually it drops while on call or taking it out of pocket. A tempered glass will help though.

The dual-lens camera pairs a 20-megapixel lens with a 2-megapixel lens, and there’s a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. There’s also a healthy 3,750mAh battery inside. The Honor 8X will come in black, blue, or red.

Featuring a 6.5-inch fullHD+ TFT IPS display, Honor 8X comes with an I phonex ho notch, and a screen aspect ratio of 18.7:9. Running the Kirin 710 processor, this phone is based on EMUI 8.2 over and above android 8.1 Oreo, and backed by a 3750mAh battery.
