I am learning Unix Shell programming at college.

How to I run Unix Shell programs in Windows.
By googling I downloaded a program called cygwin
But cc command(to execute c programs) dosen't seem to work & so does vi command.

So is there a way to run Unix inside windows?

Did you change to bash shell first? Have you tried to install rxvt to run *nix commands?

Maybe this link will help you *cygwin.com/cygwin-ug-net/cygwin-ug-net.html.
I don't have much idea since I haven't used cygwin. I use linux only.

When you install Cygwin, choose custom install and verify gcc and vi are installed...
