i mean how to install any softwae in linux without active internet connection.. in ubuntu/synapmatic, it refuses to (in add third party software, add cd rom to find any debian package in cd/dvd). also when i download something from net or just extract the software in the disc on desktop. i can't figure out what next. it is really frustrating........ please help me with both fedora 8 and ubuntu 6.10

the softwares given in digit is sources mostly.so,it is better to neglect these things!
if .rpm packages are given.u can try it in ur fedora :)
unlike in windows,GNU/Linux got better package management with listing of most available packages in nice GUI apps like synaptic, pirut etc :)
