Use any of these 2 tools:

Download ubuntu ubuntu-18.04.4-desktop-amd64.iso from here using torrent.
*mirrors.piconets.webwerks.in/ubuntu-mirror/ubuntu-releases/18.04/

Use any of the above 2 tools to make a bootable ubuntu usb drive which on boot will give you the option to either install ubuntu or test ubuntu by running as live linux.

Basically desktop version/regular windows version is for typical users & server version is for those who wants to run a server. You need desktop version not server version.

Knoppix? The first time digit started giving DVDs, they had a Knoppix ISO on it.

Hell, it's my first Linux distro ever.

You need rescue disk to that, such as Hiren's Boot CD, Ultimate Boot CD, which has a dozen of recovery tools to help you out.

After that, you should burn the ISO to USB with tools like Rufus, UUByte ISO Editor or UNetbootin, to make the USB bootable.
