AFAIK, what 3D vision does is that it will create a diachromatic rendering of whatever game is playing to make it look 3d with glasses. There are I think 2-3 such methods supported by Nvidia.

From wikipedia:
3D Vision (previously GeForce 3D Vision) is a stereoscopic gaming kit from Nvidia which consists of LC shutter glasses and driver software which enables stereoscopic vision for any Direct3D game, with various degrees of compatibility.

I think you'd still need the glasses.

The display probably helps with the polarization necessary for the 3d glasses to work.
