hi...

my computer connects is constantly connected to a LAN, where there are over 100 other users connected at any given time. Now, we all use the LAN to share files and data amongt ourselves. But how do I restrict sharing to only certain users? Can't I set some sort of password promt whenever someone looks into my share folders?
I'm using WinXP...

Thanks..

In Win9x, it was possible to set access priviledges using passwords and user priviledges... In Win2k/XP, you can set access rights only through user setting... This means that you allow specific usernames to access the data...

In the computer that you want to allow access, create user accounts that match user accounts of the people to whom you want to give access... The passwords should also match. Then, in the share setting, go to security tabs and set the specified users to allow access...
