hi all i have mtnl adsl2+ modem can i use it as a router to play lan games if so can someone tell me what to change in config??

to play games on local network you don't need port forwarding.it is only needed when using internet.
well the thing is all my 3 pc's are connected to internet.......
and i want to setup a lan connection do i need to buy additional router???
no.if all 3 pc's are connected to your modem then they already are in a lan.
Its really strange as cannot see any other system in the lan...
try pinging other system ip.if you can ping them successfully then problem is with your system firewall/other settings.
ping successful i tried changin settings but its not working.....
need more details like any firewall & whether any changes made to windows services.there is a particular service in windows which allows to see other PC in network places but if it is not running or running with some error you won't be able to see any pc in network places but you can still access them by typing pc name/ip(e.g.in address bar something like \\abc-pc or \\192.168.1.14).
Well one of my computer firewall is managed by norton internet security 13
other pc is managed by symantec endpoint protection
and the last one by kaspersky internet security... All licensed...
Thing is i did a little tweaking and shared files of one comp were visible and other comp were not, started lan server in one pc whom files were visible but no severs are shown in other pc....
This is really frustrating....
