I think most of the people are doing the same..(or not?)..the thing is, i'm lacking physical exercise and I think my ability to talk correctly is slowly vanishing..i'm stuttering a lot and unable to grasp the correct word im seeking..and I think its the fault of INTERNET (memes!) alone! (btw it took me a while to think of these words)

btw im skinny, so I thought of going to gym, I have a thing for photography, so I bought a camera..,I think of helping my parents bcoz this will be my last year living with them :(.. I think of trying some science projects/stuff..every time im trying to sleep I think of trying them tomorrow.., so I feel happy and doze..next day, it will be the same...everyday I THINK of doing something, but they remain as THOUGHTS only..

> Give yourself target and write it on a paper. then make several copies of it ans stick them on the mirror, on the monitor, everywhere you can see it.

> Ask your friends too to join the gym and go along with them.

> Go outside to some nice locations in your city and click photographs there. make such trips regularly.

you are just lazy that is all there is no deep rooted problems in you. So get out, change the scenery, hang out with friends if you have any or make friends in gym. I am in the same situation as you are and every day i try to reduce my time on the internet by doing some other activity either at home or outside. You feel like you are lost but just think what you like to do or anything that comes in your mind first and do it except the internet of course.

Assuming you're in hostel,

- Quit internet for a day and hang out with the ones you like, maybe your friends.
- Just have a random walk and circle your street/college.
- Grab a book from library and give it a read. (grab one with lots of pics).
- Go to your friend's room, and chat with them with whatever you can think on.

These are just some of my tips.
Relax yourself and think with a calm mind, you will even more.

about trekking..thanks man! a nice suggestion indeed.. i've been reducing my PC hours recently, by helping my mom.. :)

I have this issue when somebody suddenly / randomely start speaking to me

that's because you are thinking of something else , your brain has been pre-occupied by some unsatisfied thoughts/things you are trying to do..and when somebody talks, u take time returning from ur philosophical arena...that's what happens to me..might be the same with ya..understood what I mean?

Me: Vanakkum Uncle.
Uncle: What's your good name?
Me: My good name i..s.. XYZ(*In mind, what the f*** I said just now!!!)

Thanks for bumping this thread. I don't know how I miss such threads.

The behavior OP shows and others have written down is a typical example of Introversion. I was been there too. I don't use to go out much. Used to stutter a lot while speaking. Was not able to start a conversation with anyone. But once started I didn't use to face much problem continuing then. The anxiety before meeting new people remained too much. I was bullied in school too much for stuttering and due to which I didn't have much confidence doing anything.

But today most of the problems are gone. But it didn't happen overnight. It takes time. And there's no single formula.
I think friends help a lot in this case. I try to go out each weekend. Just a mall, or to a movie or just random market or places. Helps to get to know the city a lot better and staying away from technology a little. I try to participate more in social drama. Or some event happening in office. I take breaks where I work and go talk to random colleagues from time to time. The point is to get out of your world and try to know someone else better. First person. Helps to know others point of view.

With regards to talking to people, one have to remember they are just a regular people like us. And they are not expecting the words of Shakespeare to come out of our mouth. But we have to think before what we speak. We may take one or two seconds longer but the answers should be precise. Sometimes political answers are required too. Not everyone requires a direct answer, sometimes they want diplomatic answers too. And one should be ready to give them.

I think understanding that everything is important to one's being is important. Yea, technology is boon to most of our lives but a balanced life is necessary so that technology doesn't overpower it. Time to time breaks should be given, and verbal communication should be done.

Well, I don't know if my post will help, but atleast I feel I am more social now than ever before.

I think most of us are the same...

When I listened to the teacher in class all went inside my head really fast...I helped my friends in class when they didn't get what was just taught...But at the end they scored better than me..How?
Because I'm lazy, I never took studies seriously after Std. VI , yeah I topped then..I ignore studies to the fullest I hate myself for this..Just studying in the gaps between consecutive exams is all I did and I never got decent marks..Last sem results are yet to come and I think B.Tech will get over with CGPAs ranging from 6.5 to 7.8

Moving on from studies, I never start a conversation with new people. I ignore them as if they never existed and some of my classmates thought me as arrogant..But no I'm not, I have lots of friends and we have much fun together. I helped everyone in need, either technically or financially..I am the one who plans and executes all hangouts... I think I should have talked to each of my batchmates atleast one...

Scratch that last part. I don't think I am more social than before. I don't know what's happening with me.

A friend just came to my house. We sat down. Played a session of Grid 2. Then he said lets go outside in his car. I have gone out with him before too manytimes. Just to wander in the market and stuff. But this time I refused. I was just not feeling like to go outside. I am not sick or something. But something inside me was telling me just to sit in one corner of room and pretend I have a happy life.

I went with him to his car to say him bye. He insisted me to go with him. I just refused and affirmed myself by banging the door of the car to shut with some force. He realized I had a bad mood. And then he drove away.

Here's the thing. I don't know why I just did that. I could have gone with him. But I didn't. I could have just argued with him, but I didn't. I showed physical force to show my denial. I don't know if its the inner introversion kicking up again. I just am not feeling good anymore after that incident.

I don't think its the "inner introversion kicking up again". Probably you had a bad day in office or things might have not have worked out as you had expected and your frustration finally overcame you.
This kind of singular incident does happen to almost everyone. No need to fret about. If possible render an apology to him. It "might" make you feel better.
I don't know you personally, but I feel you put all your emotions while posting in this forum. Most of your posts feel like you are baring yourself completely. Emulate the same in your real life too(if you're already not doing)! You should be fine.

The easiest way is to socialize (in physical sense not virtual world sense). That's what i did after i became a Gaming zombie. Mom served me food in my computer table, Dad was like: "what am i gonna do with this boy he is a gone case"
So i started spending time with my friends, like going out, meeting people or just doing mundane boring stuff like "lets go visit that guy's house" etc etc. although all you end up doing is watch his tv, read his comics or watch him play games while u simply stare on (buggers dont have the courtesy of letting guests play games on their PC). On the bright side, free snacks :D

Oh ya, having a girl helps too. Doesnt necessarily have to be your significant other...
At the beginning you will have to hear nag nag nag like "you are so childish why u still play games" and "come take me for shopping" zzzzzzz .. but all in all u start finding things other than sitting on the computer. You can still be connected to the virtual world, like surfing on your phone while your girl spends hours deciding whether to pick the cherry pink sandals or cerulean blue sandals. (u will also learn about colors and stuffs so general knowledge ftw :D )

I just don't talk to people until I absolutely need to, or they initiate. To that, I find girls in my class telling me, "tuu to mujhe bhool hi ja", when they go by and I don't say "hi"

I'm in the same boat. I'm taking a break/ vacation from my job after a loooooong time and I don't even like getting out of the freaking house. Or even get out of my computer room or living room where I have the TV :D.
Though lately I decided how to learn how to ride a motor bike all by myself. Not an easy task and also stupid to some extend to do so without any help considering I haven't even used a bicycle in 3 years . :D. But that really helped me take my mind off from computers and TV and made me get out of the house for a while. LOL.. You can't learn riding bikes inside the house and internet is not so useful for it either. Before that my neighbors and relatives didn't even know that I'm home for vacation and now I think they have started noticing me. Probably thinking what the hell made this dude get out of the house :D.

I think you would need a place with less traffic or open field. Since you can easily run into anyone in traffic if no one is sitting behind you to train. :p

I even gave my intros so fast in my hostel, the seniors were like "bhai thoda dheere bol le" thought at first i didn't even know what the S#it i have to include in that, but gradually, through many intros, I kind of recited all the things, :p

Didn't really go into the main street at the beginning because of fear. Learned it on the less busy street around my house. No one was available to "train" me :D. I knew basics about how to ride ( The clutch + accelerator thing and changing gears) .Still don't feel confident about fully learning it but now I don't feel scared riding on the busy main roads :D Maybe I will get better with more experience.. What he meant is he said, " My "GOOD" name is xyz. You don't usually use good while mentioning your name.
On a side note, its only in India that you ask "What's your good name". Else where its simply "What's your name?" Probably due to the literal translation from Hindi.

The best cure for lethargy is Physical exercise and not necessarily gymming. I dont go to gym. I find it absolutely boring. I swim daily . It is such a damn refreshing activity ,especially in summer. I swim 20 rounds daily. And there are various mini rewards on the side. Once i finish swimming, i head to steam room for 10-15 mins . The body becomes so loose and light and then i enjoy alternate cold/hot shower. After this, i head to juice centre and drink a mango/banana shake and a lime juice. I feel nirvana :p . Nowadays the habit has gotten so deep that i feel cranky even if i dont get to swim a single day.

Regarding other creative activities like photography /science projects, believe me its boring to pursue all this alone. You should get an enthusiastic photographer friend / someone who will be happy to experiment with you.

Though I had some problems while releasing clutch and did some wheelies unknowingly in crowded places but after few days it was all smooth :)

Just spit out "XYZ" . "My name is XYZ" sounds kinna kindergarteny.

Thats the problem. I was not like this before. I used to say "I amXYZ" when I start intro or if someone else ask then, "XYZ".
But past 2yrs I am feeling a change. also I feel inferior to talk to other guys/girls whose english is better then mine(here, most of them).

Recently i noticed my new habit of "I am bla bla" or "my good bla". So embarrassing it is. Which makes me feel run away from that place immediately

AFAIK, I don't think there are any guides to get girls (can't believe I wrote that). :D You can try googling though. :) Go to a gym, it will boost your confidence. Don't mindlessly go there, check out youtube vids and do proper research. Just remember that we are all humans and there is nothing wrong with talking with anyone. I don't wanna type this, I really don't, because beauty and all that rest are totally subjective and I don't like to judge, but If I have to tell "I've seen really ugly guys talking with beautiful women and having fun all the time"

Try out Lumosity. It will help you to be spontaneous with most stuff, even conversations. As far as conversations go, experience is the only thing that helps. And to get that experience, you have to brave and get out of your comfort zone.

Thanks for bumping this thread. I don't know how I miss such threads.

Well, I forgot to ask, so how is the life today axelzdly1?

I think I've changed. Not completely but, feeling better than before. :)

Recently had a yearly family get-together which we've been attending from 3 years. About 100 people or so, termed relatives, most of whom I haven't even seen once, meet a place, enjoy for a few days and, calling out each others' names with their updated relation. Nice isn't it ? :)

Last few years we're quite monotonous to me as I was hanging out, only with my close relatives throughout the trip.I was left alone while they went on hanging with their new friends. I thought of talking to other people, but felt shy and odd ( i was a bit mood-ish and confined and was so sure they wouldn't like me at all . ) So, guess what I did ! Fiercely, I stood built up, I went to hang out with the elders. You can imagine how the tour passed by. ( they were'nt as boring as I thought and i've learned quite a few things from them! )

This year, the destination was Kerala (god's own countraay!).
This time my cousin gave me an idea of making a video-montage with all the previous year clicks. Challenge accepted.
'Started out good, unleashed all my editing skills i've earned during countless hours of internet. At last, came out a masterpiece,' I thought.
As i started out really late, i skipped all the finishing touchE's to catch the train, Yes, till last minute I was sitting before the pc. ( imagine my parents then) and the video wasn't even good. Same old story, shame, shy, depression. But i had another pawn, Photography.

Thanks to TDF, I developed an interest in Photography which brought me into buying a D-SLR. I thought of mingling into the group by clicking some awesome clicks and impressing them.Yay! nice plan! but I hate portrait photography, what if they ask me to take one? Agaain, shame, shy.

Reached kerala, it was so beautiful, i kept on clicking every second. People saw me doing. as per plan, compliments.! I also made a new friend, to whom I promised I will teach her photography. :D

Show-time, video was projected on a big screen. My heart sounded like a DnB track.Guess what! Every one loved it. That trip, I heard my name from every person in the group (although it was because I had a 'big camera' in my hand) Met a long list of new people and a HAPPY ENDING. I slept that night with a big smile on my face and a bandage to my finger.

Phew..such a long essay..Moral of the above two minutes you've wasted?

It all happened because of that thought, that I had a 'thing' for photography. That 'thought' stayed lazy in my brain until I gave it some energy and worked till it became a reality.
So, stop thinking and start doing. Never hide !
That's what i've learned.

Challenge accepted.

was quite boring at the start, but man, I got to say, was one of the best posts you get to see here, (i mean related to life)
I am much similar, leaving apart some facts that i dont have much money to buy a DSLR (i also a Photography freak, keep photographing insects till now , mostly.)
plus I have a thing for coding, i think i can mess about with Electronics hardware, its intersting, but thats not gonna help me get more social exposure,
can talk only to the XYs .
I cant do that to the ones having no Y though.
not even some XYs also, i think i might sound like a real idiot.
tried FB-ing a lot, and i think i screwed up a lot with some of the ones having no Ys.
how to talk to them, i'm still wondering.
even on FB, i was always out of topics to talk on. (that was the reason i screwed up.)

But seriously, the thing you wrote above, completely says IMO, you got to follow your passion and what you like, and get more social

im no expert but here is my 2 cents

the secret to making long intersting convos is
' ? '
yes u saw it right..type anything that comes first to your mind, and add it to the end..simple!

lemme explain..the first thought when you saw it is 'whaaaat ?' ....see..? i've got ur attention..first step IMO is be interesting, then you need to continue according to your style.keep it simple, funny , sweet anything but relevant.

I love tweaking, especially electronics. Always wanted to do something cool, creative, but im dead weak in that subject.tried sometime but understanding them was a lot brain some for me.. That's what u're good at, isnt it ? ..btw have you done any projects?

I think I should have talked to each of my batchmates atleast one...

i can relate to you on a spiritual level :p
expect for the studies,i don't hate them, but never could score a decent score. All my classmates expected me to get 9.6 cgpa, but i ended up with 8.8  idk why. Maybe its the CCE scheme, i hope that this'll change in 11th standard.
^^ whats that XY you are talking abt

well even people who read bio till 10th standard would understand. X and Y are sex chromosomes(now don't ban me for using this word). XX=female, XY=male.

btw, can anyone help me with this? I can't sleep at night(usually go to sleep at 5am). Its been happening for last month. Idk why. I can sleep soundly at day, but not at night. And on top of that, studying at day is like very hard for me, but i can study like a god at night. In the beginning it was no big deal to me, i used to play games and have fun with friends and study at nights. But now, my parents said i can't be studying at night, its lights out after 12 midnight. I can't seem to convince them for letting me study at night. Now i can't sleep at night, i'm unable to study at night and i end up on my mobile, browsing TDF, online sites and FB. So i'm wasting around 5+8 hours a day, and the day passes with me barely studying anything.

Anyone help me with this? This is getting a real painin the a** for me.

PS- 1. My mom started sleeping in my room after it was declared lights out after midnight.

2. I tried to not sleep a day so that i could fix my sleeping time and still i ended up being awake the next night and sleeping the next day.

That was a great story axelzdly. Felt nice that you showcased your editing skills in front of your family members. I too edit some videos keeping all the collages and video snapshots I take over the course of time. I did that in college and in the last place I worked. It feels nice to express how you feel through your videos and more nice to showcase it to friends / colleagues / family. Their smile is all worth the trouble to do something like that.

Keep it up dude... :doublethumb:

same here 19 too i guess we all tdf guys are same gaming freaks, tech enthusiatics my routine is almost same as yours i sit on my pc from 9am-5pm specially these days. But i go out for 2.5km jogging at morning 6am and after 5pm i play football till 8 pm thats my routine nowdays. My physique is good still now because after 12th last yr i was so into gymming that i spend 4 hrs everyday from april to september daily as a result my body got toned.Join a gym it helps you to conquer more on mental strength than physical strength.Every guy should atlest go to gym atleast 1 tym its more mental than physical strength and you will feel happy at the end of the day when you see yourself in the mirror and will gain confidence for everything.I still feel that i have got strength and confidence even if i havent been gymming since 4 months. So cheer up! GREAT THREAD!
