Also I have never used or bought a console before so any pointers for first time buyers like whether an old Dell PC 1920x1080 monitor can be used with a console ?

most newer consoles require a hdmi capable display,so if you have a monitor with hdmi port then its most likely going to work fine.

as for which console is better, its a matter of personal preference.

For me,playstation 4 takes precedence over xbox.

I'd say stay away from Xbox Series S. It has a weaker GPU & just 512GB storage. It might support games for maybe 3-4 years before big games dropping support (its GPU is equivalent to old Xbox One X which is almost 3 years old).

Xbox Series X at 50k seems like a decent choice. If PS5 digital edition is priced at 40k, obviously get that. Note that PS5 has a better selection of exclusive games whereas Xbox has more powerful hardware with few nice software features like a good backward compatibility system.

An important thing to keep in mind is that you need Xbox Gold or PS plus subscription to play multiplayer games (even if you bought the game or game is free to play).

If your old monitor has an HDMI port, it will work with consoles, although something as powerful as Series X or PS5 is wasted on a 1080p 60Hz monitor, IMO get a 43" 4K TV for 25k for a good experience.

If your budget is really low, get at least PS4 Pro or Xbox One X as PS4 & Xbox One S are surely dropping their game support soon, likely from 2021. So no more new releases for them. One X & PS4 pro might get limited support for few more years though.

Article for reference: Games for PS5 to be priced at Rs 4,999 on PlayStation store

If 5k per game is good for you get a PS, else with game pass an Xbox makes more sense.

How long does an Xbox work with playing 3 hours everyday ? do I need to clean it often or give for servicing every once in a while ? also are their games I can purchase on Xbox that remain with me forever once I buy them like Steam without pass and what is the price of pass.

Gamepass is 15 USD per month for access to all games. And includes Xbox gold that's needed for multiplayer play.

Regarding, maintenance I hope other members can inform you better

It does. Apparently going forward all titles will come for PC version as well. Many console owners have purchased 3 year plan of the Gold subscription as it had an offer.

Also currently I think EA Play is being offered too, for people to play EA games. Although that is being discontinued soon(EA play bundle with gamepass).

No, like HZD is just 1.5k now. Similarly, a new game called Mafia Definitive edition was launched at 2.5k, but new PS5 optimized games will be indeed 5k at launch. You can always wait for sales, or buy used disc games (provided you buy a console with disc drive, this concept doesn't exist in PC sadly):
Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition

No idea, generally consoles are low maintenance but India is a dusty country, so better to get it cleaned once every few years at least.

You can buy games from their respective store & keep it forever on PS & Xbox, it will be linked to your account, similar to steam account. Game subscription is a new concept, similar to Netflix vs owning a disc. Currently, Xbox Game Pass is the best game subscription, in general.

But the base Xbox Gold & PS Plus subscriptions have some free games every month & PS plus easily has better games (like they gave RDR2 for free one month, I think you can play it for just that month though, enough time to complete SP games):
PlayStation®Plus
Xbox Live Gold: Multiplayer for Everyone | Xbox
Need for Speed: Payback and Vampyr are your PS Plus games for October
I have seen $60/4.2k Xbox gold deal for 1-year subscription, check amazon.

EA Play will be available with XGP from Nov this year, maybe Dec for XGP for PC.

I went on amazon I cant see where to buy consoles ?
I'd wait for International flights to resume and then get the console for cheaper from Dubai, Singapore or Malaysia.

Xbox Series X & PS5 will be launched in November. No idea on PS5 pricing for India. XB SX costs 50k.

What's your budget?

ps4 and xb1 are both apparently out of stock on amazon, you should try again after a few days.

And for ps5 you should check again after the first week of November.

For purely gaming, no new 50k PC will come close to a 50k XBox Series X (not taking price of games into consideration here) unless AMD is able to put 5700XT level of performance in a 20-25k GPU.

If you want to do stuff other than gaming also, PC is the way to go.

When I wrote playstation I cant find them on amazon.
Because Sony didn't release Indian pricing yet nor release date. Xbox Series X has a listing on amazon without pre-order option. Stuff should get clear by November.

PC can do much more than just gaming or watching videos online. PC is more expensive upfront as well, but games are a bit cheaper with "other" options as well. Also PC needs no additional fee to play online multiplayer games, say you want to play a free to play multiplayer game, you don't have to spend anything to play it, unlike Xbox or PS.

Consoles are much more convenient to setup & use.

For good budget PCs, you have to wait till next Summer when new budget GPUs are out in market. Only high end GPUs are launching this year.

pc is better in that regard.

remember that once a console goes bad after warranty period, you will just have to throw it away as neither sony nor microsoft offer any servicing for out of warranty consoles.

for pc you can simply replace a malfunctioning part with a new one.

Yes, I forgot to mention longevity. PCs are better in that regard. Say by next summer you will likely be able to build an Xbox Series X equivalent PC for maybe 60-70k (monitor extra). So, after say 3-4 years, you can just upgrade the GPU to get even better performance (maybe 20-25k), if needed, rather than upgrading the whole rig. Anyways in 4-5 years consoles start showing its age. PS4/XB1 runs a lot of new big games at 720p 30fps, so not exactly the best experience.

I have question on that. My current PCs are having issues how do I know which part is damaged and I need to replace that part.

No, not as easily repairable if something goes wrong & after say 5 years, big games are capped at 720p 30fps. I think PS4 & XB1 have been doing that since 2017 or so. They still run games but 30fps is not so good experience if you have observed higher fps gaming.

Create a new thread with its issues, we can try to diagnose. Otherwise get a local computer technician.

unless you are quite rich or have a decent income and can afford to spend a lot of money on games frequently ,consoles should be avoided.

if you already have monitor, ups etc just upgrade the mobo+cpu+ram of your existing computer one by one and you will be good to go.

later on you can get a new gpu-you can find some good deals on used ones in the FB marketplace for around 8-10k.

All depends on the kind of games you want to play, and the upfront cost you can put up for a computer. The hardware ceiling for future proofing a computer is rather high, especially compared to a console.

For a similar performance PC, you have to spend like 30% extra for a PC. That will last about as long as that equivalent console, except in poorly optimized games. PS4 & XB1 run big games these days at 720p 30fps & something like old GTX 660 or GTX 750Ti can achieve similar performance as well in new games, just that minimum requirements have been higher usually. My older laptops used to run games even though it was below minimum requirements because in many cases minimum PC requirements were for 1080p low 30fps.

An example is GT 1030 which is weaker than min. required GTX 770 demanded by RDR2, yet it can hit 30fps:

Nintendo switch is just mobile gaming with better game support & better optimization, I think. I personally feel Switch is too niche & not worth being the primary gaming device. For portable gaming, I would say my smartphone is enough, surely not as big collection of top games, but still, it isn't my primary gaming device. PS/XB or desktop/laptop are the ones that can be a primary gaming device. Again, just my opinion.

Nintendo consoles are not available officially in India. Be aware that ones available are overpriced, imported and won't have any warranty.
