Now i have managed to install ubuntu without using cd. But now another problem is that i cannot setup my wireless broadband connection. My connection has WEP 64bit hex pass but ubuntu is still refusing to connect. However i can connect using the pass from windows. Please help in this regard.
Thanks,
Amey.
first do check, if your wifi card is setup correctly, as most vendors don't make a effort to make drivers for linux os
Wireless documentation can be found at *help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs
i tried tht but of no use. It says i need to use bcm43xx-fwcutter package. but after trying to install it using
sudo apt-get install bcm43xx-fwcutter
it gives error tht "couldnt find package bcm43xx-fwcutter"
Update your apt repo lists or get it from here:
*ubuntu.cafuego.net/pool/gutsy-cafuego/bcm43xx/bcm43xx-firmware_1.3-1ubuntu1_all.deb
*launchpadlibrarian.net/8853891/bcm43xx-fwcutter_006-3_i386.deb
there's the package for ubuntu gutsy(7.10) 32bit
but my wifi is still not connected...it just detevts the network but doesnt get cnnected. when i try to install the restricted drivers it asks for the path of the firmware. I dont know wht path to give as i dont know where is the firmware.
