Lolz....what is Apple thinking, the number of restrictions in iPhone is getting over the edge. I mean there is a limit of stupidity they are doing.

This just in....If you have an iPhone & if you are out of the plan to use it as a Phone, you cannot further use it as an iPod either.

Taken from Engadget
. I wonder why Macboys never post about the flaws of iPhone. Typical Salesman. :D

It's unclear what technical limitation prevents Apple from allowing the iPhone to function as an iPod without an active AT&T service plan tied to it, because we really (really) want to believe the companies wouldn't arbitrarily disable a feature to keep the cash flow rolling in.

If you can' even use it as an iPod then what the hell u r buying it for :D

I have requested Mehul & andy 4 times today to merge all the threads, no responce so far.

WinFS is not an OS, it is a file system which is based on NTFS

This is stupid crap!!! How people handle such poop. Its just like you need vista to play halo 2, a 3 years old sh1t game(Btw razor1911 has taken care of it,Take that MS!!).
We need someone similar who f's this apple stupidity and lets users use their iphone without this unnecessary crap. But this will happen when apple users are willing to retaliate to a sh1t product apple pushes to them, and this can never happen. Which makes me remember a poem i read in some forum,

baa baa white sheep
have you any *****
yes sir yes sir the apple stores are full
as told my 'master' they will buy anything faster
their marketing makes the crap seem cool.

They (apple) can fix everything wrong with iphone , no big deal . But if the apple community is ready to take this current 'sorry form' of the product then why will apple bother . I bet they are going to sell a non crippled version for more, if the community revolts they(apple) will have to fix it, but again what are the chances of that.

Mr. Aryayush is waiting for 'atleast something' positive from apple (which i am sure will come). Then he will appear in this board again and will do a 'nelson' (from simpsons) on everyone here. Moments of joy.

Yup, most of the software problems & shortcomings can be fixed by Apple. But not the hardware shortcomings

1) They call it a smart phone without Handwriting recognition. Current iPhone works on induction principal due to which it won't work with stylus. It looks for the charge that our fingers produce when they touch the screen. iPhone can never use a stylus.

2) You cannot add Bluetooth A2DP with software update. You can if the current Bluetooth module is A2DP based but the feature is not yet enabled.

3) You cannot add a GPS/3G/HSDPA Module with Software update.

Apple could have easily integrated iChat in iPhone. If not yahoo then at least AOL (something most of the American use) would have been there. But this would have hampered the SMS Market of AT&T whose SMS plans are insane. $9 month for 1 extra line .

Same goes with JAVA. JAVA Application run in there own VM. If they crash, chances are that the VM will crash too but not the phone. The statement given by Jobs : "We don't want AT&T's west coast network to crash due to some application crashing" is completely stupid. Phones crash all the time due to some reason or the other. When was the last time you heard that Opera running on N73 ME crashed & whole Vodafone network came down.

Jobs refused to provide JAVA or real Apps for iPhone cos then he would not have control over how users use iPhone resulting in low revenue for Apple. Just like Apple charges for service packs in the form of new OS, Apple will charge premium for iChat or Add On pack for iPhone & guess what, no independent developer can make free app for iPhone either. In one way, Apple is saying to the developer community "You don't know how to make apps for Mac, only we do". Apple should be sued for anti-trust laws.

As you can see that they omitted the feature to use mp3 as ring tone so that if you need a ring tone you buy it from Apple/AT&T for $ 1. Nice way to extort the customer. Apple has been always ripping the customers.

Arya vanished, uske sath KLPD ho gaya :D. The high hopes he had with iPhone or leopard are no more. The truth is out there. Those who have the ability to analyze & study will know the truth, others will just follow the sheep crowd

Do you guys have any idea how convenient this iTunes activation stuff has made it for buyers of the iPhone? In the US, you have to first buy a phone and then sit in the store while the employees take their own sweet time readying it for you - inserting the SIM card and activating it. Imagine what a catastrophic situation it would be if the thousands of people who are waiting in line for the iPhone would have had to go through that. Apple changed it and made it dead simple.

Buy the phone and go home. It already comes with the SIM card inserted. Connect it to a computer. iTunes will automatically launch and guide you through the activation. Done. (An iTunes account is free of cost.)

This is innovation. You'll see other companies copying this method soon.

As for the iPod thing. It is not as if you cannot use the iPod if you are out of balance. You just have to activate it once you purchase it before you can use the iPod. Even that sucks, but it isn't as huge a deal as gx_saurav interpreted it to be.

When you buy the phone, you have to agree to a two year contract with AT&T which will activate the phone. Once it is activated, you can use it as you wish.

Why are you guys making a big deal out of it? It's not as if it affects us in India.

...just look at the UI & design, it looks so cool :D

Why is Apple limiting the user choice by bundling iPhone only with AT&T for the next 5 years, & 2 years contract? Mr. Salesman, explain this plz.

dont look at the contract
dont look at the fact that u cant shoot videos (6600 allows 10sec vids by default)
dont look at any thing other than the design and UI .... it looks so cool :D
